Yeah I forgot they had just signed Ginter! Hummels is a top footballer, very classy.

Arsenal linked with William Carvalho and Balotelli again

Istanbully

Tescos just signed Andre Wisdom on season long loan from L'pool. Damn it! Very good player and now they have him, Pocognoli and lescott to go with Olsoon and Macauley which adds up to a mean solid defence. It's exactly what we should have done when we flirted with relegation instead of sticking with more or less the same back 4.

He's OK, worth a gamble after a decent spell with Derby. I assume he'll play at right back.

I wouldn't be so sure, Wisdom and Pocognoli have it all to prove at that level and McAuley, Lescott and Olsson are 34, 32 (by the start of the season) and 31 respectively - they're all on the way down.

Plus we flirted with relegation and then spent a near record fee on a centre back.

Madrid look like they are to sign Jimmy Boy Rodriguez from Monaco.

Obviously going for a slightly attacking team next season La Liga

Very true! But roger the relegator is a seriously poor footballer where as Lescott is class ( cos we taught him) Pocoognoli is a Belgium international who was rated as one one of the best left backs in the Bundesliga and Wisdom has 20 liverpool games under his belt and is rated as a better defender than Glen Johnson by many liverpool fans. No hiding from the fact they have strengthened there defence handsomely, add that beast they've signed up front I can only pray that they mess up. Don't think they will though and that's a lesson we need to heed when we get back to the prem next year or the year after.

... Pocoognoli is a Belgium international who was rated as one one of the best left backs in the Bundesliga ...

Sorry for interrupting you but he was never rated as one of the best left backs in Germany. He is a solid left back not more. But I think Albion did well with their new signings. Lescott has still quality and Wisdom a lot of potential.

A lot at Albion will depend on their coach, Mr Irvine. The bulk of their squad have already be shown to show total disregard to a coach they didn't think was right.

Drogba to sign one-year deal with Chelsea at start of next week, w/ option of joining coaching staff after that [L'Equipe]

And possibly related, talk of Torres going to Atletico. Surely they could find much better for a fraction of the wages though? He is so bad these days.

City to go for a new striker? Negredo out for "a few months" with a fractured metatarsal.

Looks like Rosenborg right back Cristian Gamboa going to West Brom,a fee of £2m plus some add ons according to Norwegian media...he had a good world cup but hasn't really been brilliant at club level.

Must be a tough one as normally you'd think Aguero, Dzeko and Jovetic would be more than enough cover but Aguero and Jovetic have been very injury prone.

Rodriguez signs for Real. Can't help but feel that Real are going for their traditional method of signing the World Cup top performers once again when they've no need for it. Keylor Navas on his way too apparently.

Surely the end for Di Maria and Isco who would walk into virtually every team in the world.

thats Real for you, they wonna excite their fans with at least a world class top player every year..even as you say it, they dont need to..how much they are in debt now? must be monstrous money..cant believe they can borrow all this money year in and year out of the spanish banks

Last summer Perez wanted an influx of Spaniards, now two of them in Isco and Illiaramendi will either be off or rotting on the bench £60m later. Quite ridiculous.

As good as James was in the World Cup, Di Maria made the system work for Real and they'll get cut apart at will if they play Kroos, Modric, Rodriguez, Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema.
