The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Shropshire Council

Normal Waste - Grey Bin
Recycle - Purple Topped Bin (used to be black boxes until this year)
Garden Waste - Green
Paper/Cardboard - Blue Bag

We have a food waste bin somewhere but not used
Gateshead Council:

Recycling - blue bin
Normal waste - green bin
Garden waste - a slightly darker green bin

Am I alone in thinking recycling should be a green bin? 🤔🤷‍♂️

Normal - Black
Garden - Brown

Speaking of bins, ours and our neighbours have gone missing. Literally no sign of them after bin day on Wednesday.

Really odd.

Neighbours have taken it and fled the country?

Unless you mean the neighbours bin.
Yep, both ours and our neighbour's bin has gone missing. No sign of either anywhere, the only conclusion we can draw is that someone has stolen them - which of course is utterly bizarre.

Not unusual for bins to be stolen. Well certainly not unusual in leeds...

Is it not? But why? I've never experienced it before.

Contacted the council, they're going to send a new one - but going to take a couple of weeks - first world problems, but no bin for Christmas, not ideal.

Some twat nicked one of ours last year (was around this time too), no idea why.

Got replaced inside a week or so though.

Councils reduce the frequency of waste collections, people struggle to manage with the reduced capacity and then you suddenly have a demand for a 'product' which is quite often insecure and mobile.

Everyone has their number on the bin :D (otherwise how would you know which one was which when you came to put them back).

It's not a deterrent against nicking them.

My neighbours don't. I'll often bring theirs in at the same time as mine, just to be neighbourly. I've occasionally brought the wrong one back in though. I've told them to put numbers on it but they obviously can't be arsed.

Just fill your green bin until you can transfer it all over. And ask the neighbours if you can use up any space in theirs come bin day.

I wrote in April this year about my other half's battle with the DWP over her entitlement to PIP and we've finally had a tribunal date arrive today set for January 31st.

She applied for it in November 2022, its been a horrific experience, 14 months of been dealt with from a default position of suspicion, gaslit by been constantly told she has 0 qualifying points, to the pressures of dropping down to a single outcome on the 5 periods in 2023 she's been unable to hold down work.. So to have some light at the end of the tunnel is most welcome.
