We've been paying €79.50 every 3 months to have our 'rubbish bins' collected.
On a bit of a whim, I rang them up to suggest I'm paying too much and am thinking of leaving them.
On the phone I told them my wife was talking to a friend on a big estate 4 miles away and AES are offering people a good deal which is half what I pay.
They came back to me offering to match their offer.
I told them it wasn't good enough, "I've been with you for 13 years, I want you to give me the BEST DEAL you can, not just match the competition! and don't come back telling me that's only for new clients! Otherwise I'll fuck off and come back tomorrow with a different name!
Amazingly the new offer is..
A 2 year contract.
Next 6 months FREE!
Following 6 months at €13 per month
2025 up to €26 a month. Saves me around €240!

Well, it kind of can be calculated like that but the €79 is kind of standard for collection of 3 bins, so the competition seems to be driving the price down.

That covers a whole range of things but my bill is around £190 per month (paid for 10 months out of the 12...have no bill in Feb or March)

That's for his Council Tax, not solely for bin collection (I would hope!).

We have to pay extra for garden waste, I did in South Staffs too, something like £40 a year.

That hasn't reached us yet.

Rarely have garden waste to remove. Think our green bin gets emptied 2 or 3 times a year so if they started charging I would just do a tip run to Whitchurch 2 or 3 times a year instead (and use the wifes car so no cost as she has charged the car up at work..)

We get one (brown in our case) garden waste bin emptied fortnightly which is included in the C Tax.

Additional brown bins are available for £68.60 pa, with no limit to the number you can add.

Previous owners had one additional which we’ve kept on.

Seems a reasonable deal to me tbf.

We live in a little cul de sac and there's another one running off ours. At the bottom of that is a bit of spare ground which we've tidied up and planted trees and bushes. and we made a bit of a pic nic area there too and a barbq stand. there are several small raised plots for growing veg and potatoes. But at the side of it all runs a shallow ditch and into that goes everyone's garden waste, which when it composts down is used on the veg plots. All very civilised. If I knew how to do it, I'd show it to you, if anyone was interested.

Are you Telford & Wrekin?
We have a green wheelie bin for garden waste, a red topped wheelie for general rubbish, a purple top wheelie for glass/cans/recyclable plastic and a blue bin for paper/cardboard.
Oh and small grey food waste bin.
