The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

My son has started playing football for an U9's team this season. I didn't really know what to expect as he'd never played football before and I just presumed he'd take after me and end up warming the bench with the odd 5 minutes here and there. However, it turns out that he is actually quite good!

They are a team who hadn't played any matches before the summer and they were getting hammered in their first few friendlies during pre-season but they have really improved since the season has started and have just won their 3rd game in a row. Watching him (and the team) play has become the absolute highlight of my weekends now :)
Who does he play for? Been trying to find an U9s team for my son, but it's an absolute pain in the arse. Had no idea it was so difficult to do!

Sedgley Panthers. They train at Clayton Park, Coseley on Saturday mornings and their home matches are at Silver Jubilee Park, Coseley.

I don't know if they are looking for any more players for the current team though, but I can give you the coaches number if you want to message him or anything.

This is a link to the League they play in if you wanted to try any of the other teams:

Where are you Machin?

Old Wulfs, Penn Colts, Trysull Tigers, Bilbrook all have good young ones set ups
I'm in WV3 mate. Old Wulfs and Penn Colts have no spaces (which seems to be the big problem). Had a session with Coven West on Friday on a decent 3G pitch at St. Chads. A bit further from home than I'd like on a Friday evening, but facilities are good so we'll see how it goes.

I've put a lot of time and effort in to the Air Cadets over the last year and last night I completed an aim I set in April.

We have 6 Air Rifles and a range under the building and as the Shooting Training Officer I wanted to have every cadet trained on the rifle by the end of this year. We have kept increasing numbers over the year going from 33 to 47 cadets and last night I trained the 47th and final Cadet!

I have also run a lot of shooting opportunities in the last 3 months and I am now left with only 1 cadet without a minimum of "Trained Shot" qualification, the one from last night.

I'm really happy with myself tbh and the next target is to get that final shooting qual sorted!

I think its terrific that you and others put so much time and effort into doing stuff with and for youngsters.

Woohoo, at last a benefit to being old, turned 65 a few weeks ago, when my lad booked the tickets for the Everton game, turns out mine was 12 quid less.
Surprised I get a discount already and quite surprised at the size of it.

So we had our final Competition shoot yesterday and I had a space in one of the cars so I invited the final Cadet along.

He got to have a shoot after the competition and absolutely smashed it. A brilliant shoot with 4 groupings of 12mm, 12mm, 14mm and 15mm, more than enough to qualify for his Trained Shot and complete the Squadron having 100% trained and 100% with a shooting qualification!

This t shirt. I love a good shirt and this one is on point.

The Darkness at the Civic last night. Helen has been waiting over twenty years to see them and didn’t think she ever would so we had to go, I treated her to the VIP package as an early Christmas treat and it was really worth it. Got in around 16:00 after queueing for a while and were guided in to the band playing Growing On Me to just 60 of us, then some daft stuff as they just messed about a bit.
Then there were some Q&A and when they asked if anyone was from Wolverhampton I was the only one so received a fair bit of attention from the band which was quite funny.
I did send a question through the email provided in the package and Justin finally ended the year-long argument between me and Helen that she actually does not have Dinner Lady Arms. Then we had a photo with them in front of the stage, all pretty whirlwind really.

The gig itself was ace, we managed to get towards the front as we never actually left the Civic (got battered on prices in the bar, £21 for two cans of Neck Oil and about twenty chips) and while we’d been on our feet for nearly 7 hours by the time they came on the energy was electric. They played all of Permission to Land, Christmas Time (no surprise) and a couple we’d never heard before and I was surprised at just how good they are live.
Justin had the balls to play the end of the finale sitting on someone’s shoulders while they walked him through the crowd right behind us, he knows how to entertain.

A long day and a great night and I’m feeling it today but it was worth every penny.

I’d post some photos but the site doesn’t let me resize them anymore on my phone, you’ll just have to imagine it.

Had a cracking breakfast at The Rabbit Run on the Bridgnorth Road this morning.
It really was top class. Mrs HW's veggie option was superb as well.

Ofsted getting a shoeing
