The Summer 2024 Transfer Thread.

Deals will start rolling now. Still many things could happen. Chiquinho, Sarabia, Guedes all potentially can be upgraded/replaced now we have the funds to play with.
One left winger, one right sided attacker and a striker.
Why would we need an extra left winger? We have G-Rod, Hwang, Cunha and Bellegarde who can all play off the left. Not to mention Podence and Guedes.

Right side is much more important to give us some balance and cover.

And you gave me shit for Lemons!

The left winger is the real width holder, hugs the touchline. Rodrigo Gomes plus one. Depends if Chiquinho is upgraded or not. Cunha, Hwang, Bellegarde, Podence & Guedes are not that player.

Reiss Nelson is one name I’ve heard. We’d probably want a loan with an option.
Well that’s amusing. Was it about 18 months ago I first mentioned his name on here?

I don’t mind Nelson. He needs to settle down and get regular football at this point in his career and I’ve always liked the look of him.

As for Neto, gutted that he’s going and even worse that it’s to bloody Chelsea. He’ll go down as another transfer success story for Wolves, though.

Surprised to hear we’re not looking for another LB when Hugo goes. RAN gets injured/suspended and we’re playing Doc. I know Rodrigo could play there, but without Neto we’ll want him further forward.

Hope we’ve got some players lined up and can get some business done pre-Arsenal.

Toti will be a left back option, tucking inside.

That’s what you do in a crisis, not after 1 injury. He's also currently first choice ch so that's 2 positions you are weakening
1 injury shouldn’t mean you move a first choice out of there starting position to fill a gap.

Big couple of weeks in the market to make sure the squad is balanced. O’Neil and Hobbs seem to be making the right noises, but noise is just noise unless signings are made.

Toti shouldn’t be more than 3rd/4th choice left back with how we’re looking to play IMO

It depends what you’re asking of the left back.
We will sign a centre half soon.
True, but if you’re first choice is RAN and 2nd choice Toti, they’re both very different players so would require a tactical shift

Just realised I’ve just copied what TT has said. Teach me to read the whole thread!

It's worth repeating though! RAN's role is going to be very complex, needs absolutely bags of tactical and spatial awareness, decision making and technique. Just plopping Toti there seems more than a bit bonkers.

It might mean we build up differently but it’s still a left sided defender tucking in when we have the ball.
Is Toti more trusted to do that role rather than Hugo Bueno? Hobbs and O’Neil think so.

It's obvs not GFFH decision though!

An injury to ran means we can't play 3 CBs

But he occupies a different space than RAN in the defensive set up. It’s not as simple as being a left sided defender tucking In

Especially when we can plonk Doc there 😉
