The Rugby Thread

Often France change for Scotland either way. They don't mind White.

Great Scotland try with loads of luck, followed by the worst kick EVER.

Yes - still spawny as we kicked the ball away. Had we not done that then we probably would have held on.

BTW - Good match between France and Scotland now.

Shit decision making at the crunch moment in a game when it mattered England made the better decision.

England had no decision to make really, apart from maybe going for a drop goal. It was a stupid stupid kick. Anyway, we move on. I'll get over it. Eventually.

Some odd refereeing in the France game. As far as I know any downward pressure at all counts for a try but it wasn't given, Scotland's scrum then collapses and they get a pen.

Pied Peyper, worst ref in the international game by a mile.

Scotland under the cosh there - the right decision as the French player wasn't in control of the ball when he tried to put it down for the try

Though don't understand why they didn't take one of the two easy penalty shots to go ahead anyway. (have now)

I don't think you need to be in control of it, you just need downward pressure - as when it's kicked through and anyone gets a random hand to it.

Looked to me like he dropped it. Irrelevant now as France have this dans leur poche.

Pressing downwards is all that is needed, there is no mention of control in the laws. But if it has been dropped, then that is irrelevant.

Because Scotland are wearing blue - though why they are not the ones to change as the away team is another question

The custom in International rugby (although I dont think it is followed 100%) is for the Home side to change colours.

France just that bit too powerful for Scotland.

Mako Vunipola back training with the England squad for Italy after successfully completing 70 mins with Sarries at the weekend.

Billy Vunipola's recovery is being assessed by the England medical team.

Anthony Watson is back with the England squad too.

England name squad of 24 to be reduced to 23 on Friday morning.

Vunipola, Marler, Hartley, George, Cole, Sinckler, Launchbury, Lawes, Itoje, Haskell, Hughes, Clifford, Wood

Youngs, Care, Ford, Farrell, Te'o, Slade, Daly, May, Nowell, Watson, Brown

No Joseph

England: 15 Mike Brown, 14 Jonny May, 13 Ben Te'o, 12 Owen Farrell, 11 Elliot Daly, 10 George Ford, 9 Danny Care; 1 Joe Marler, 2 Dylan Hartley, 3 Dan Cole, 4 Joe Launchbury, 5 Courtney Lawes, 6 Maro Itoje, 7 James Haskell, 8 Nathan Hughes.

Replacements: 16 Jamie George, 17 Mako Vunipola, 18 Kyle Sinckler, 19 Tom Wood, 20 Jack Clifford, 21 Ben Youngs, 22 Henry Slade, 23 Jack Nowell.

No Watson.

Not as many changes as people were forecasting.

Not a fan of that team, very harsh to drop Nowell and Brown is offering nothing - unless you count the ability to run ten yards straight into the first player as useful.

I prefer Nowell to May also, but I like Brown.

Mr. Angry has the knack of breaking through the first man and his tackling is superb. He isn't as quick as he used to be but he's still no slouch. There is no-one who is a better FB for England at the moment as obviously Eddie thinks as well.
