Obviously when passing sometimes the ball goes forwards with the momentum so when does it become a forward pass? How far does the ball actually have to go forward? I only ask because i just slowed down the Aussie try before the blue line replay and could see it lands at least 2 yards in front of Ashley-Cooper.

I think it's more of a direction thing, so if you're travelling forwards but your arms go backwards then it's not a forward pass. Somebody posted a video a while ago to prove this.
