The Rugby Thread

Given leave of absence by Bath. Probably going back to the Bunnies.

Good, NRL is poorer without him.

Hopefully SBW will follow.

Don't blame him, he may have been loved by the Bath fans but I'm not sure that was the case with most of the Twickersrati.

Bath fans (and England fans who follow the club scene) could see his athletic abilities and attributes and had been well managed by Bath's management team, once they had worked out his best position he was progressing nicely and would have been on track to make if not the 2016 6N squad then certainly 2017 squad as he learnt his role. You only have to go back through this thread to see the general excitement of English fans regarding him.

It wasnt his fault that he was fast tracked into the England squad when it was patently clear he was unready for it by a management team in meltdown (under pressure from a media campaign, outside of the normal rugby correspondents to have him included) and then compounded that by putting him in a position which he was clearly unsuited for and had very little experience (damaging the squad dynamic at the same time) before throwing him under the bus for the teams implosion.

Cant say I blame him for going back to RL after that, has been a wasted opportunity for England (and fair amount of wedge) on the whole experiment.

Well, he will unless there is an agreement between clubs. He is under contract until 2017.

HT SA 16-0 Argies

SA deserve their lead. They've stopped the Argies playing.

Another poor decision by the ref. gives SA a try from another forward pass, after saying play-on at SA player putting a head-lock on an Argie.

Now SA's 9 picked up Argies 9 upside down and drops him. Nothing given by ref or TMO

What a final effort by the Argies. Pure heart.

FT SA 24-13 Argies

Very impressed with Argentina in this tournament. They'd win the Six (well, Seven) Nations if they were in it as it stands.

Not sure. Ireland didn't turn up and should have been better than they were, and I would fancy Wales to beat Argentina. Probably England too.

There's no doubt that Argentina have made massive strides in their progress, and they have graced this World Cup.
The question now is can they continue their improvement and produce the players for their future. I think they can.

I think they will as well, the super 15 (or 16 now) franchise next year will help them as well plus it will keep the players in Argentina rather then seeing them all over Europe, they have done massively well since joining the tri-nations especially when you compare them to Italy, I would think on reflection them being turned down for the six nations in 08 was a bullet dodged, they had to adapt to survive in the toughest enviroment and they have.

Saying that I agree with Paddy I dont think their is much between them, Ireland Wales and England.

Nearly final time then. I am going New Zealand by 11, but Australia could give them a game.

Backing NZ, but above all I hope we get a great final to cap a great tournament.
