There you go, 10 right backs who could reasonably qualify as specialists in that position (they have all played extensively there at points in their careers, so I'm not counting someone like James Tomkins who is clearly a centre half by trade or a utility player such as Ashley Young), all playing in the Premier League if we really must restrict our thinking to that level, all bar Trippier have played at least as much football as Johnson this season (so not including someone on the absolute fringes as Jon Flanagan currently is at Burnley or Timothy Fosu-Mensah is at United), all fit and available (so not including injured players such as Sam Byram), took zero effort to knock up that list and they're all better options for this squad on numerous levels than Glen Johnson is. How in the living hell is Gareth Southgate - who is clearly highly thought of within the FA for whatever reason - making an error on that scale when all he has to do primarily day to day is watch English qualified players? It's unreal stuff.
