The premier is a bit of a shambles this year. Liverpool being so far ahead without really being great I’d go as far to say they’re one of the poorest title winners in the last 20 years along with Leicester. Yes great achievement but by no means a great side. Arsenal are second with no regular striker.
The clutch of sides from 4 down to Fulham can just beat each other with little pattern. The bottom 3 are a disgrace, we’re poor and should be going down but are being given a get out of jail free card.
Beating how shite the bottom 3 were last season takes some doing to.
Ipswich have definitely gone for quantity over quality, no doubt with a view to getting a strong squad for the Championship in the likely event of relegation.
I don't think you spend as much as they did if that's the plan. They did it intending to stay up and kept a promise to McKenna to have a go, otherwise he'd have gone to Chelsea. The language coming out of them in the Summer was very different to Luton, who very much were in it for a nice time.
I posted why they signed who they did a week or so ago, so I won't repeat it
As poor as the bottom 3 have been, there was a huge part of the season where we looked equal to them. That is where VP gets the credit with me. Whilst it shows the under performance and poor nature of the previous manager, VP still needed to improve it.
Juric has changed Southampton's style and setup and they still look particularly poor, I think overall they are actually marginally better under him when you watch, but without anything to really show for it and still have had some hammerings. And that could have happened to us too to an extent.
I thought we were poor for too much of the Newcastle and Chelsea games. Doherty capsized us just before HT vs Forest and that was game over. Didn't lay a glove on Fulham second half which was disappointing. Otherwise I've been broadly pleased with how we've played.
Better aesthetically than Lopetegui's home wins for my money (with arguably a worse team).

VP has stopped the chaos at the club and got things more disciplined.
He’s gos rid of what was clearly a toxic influence in the dressing room too.
It’s just what was needed for a squad that had lost its way and were behaving like adolescence.
