The manager cannot be hiding behind excuses. Sako was something we could have planned for and even if you can't replace his quality like for like - although that said, we signed him for £3m as a Championship team ourselves - we could and should have made a better effort at replacing him. Dicko's injury is bad luck but we have Alfie who is one of the better forwards in the division, adapt your play to suit. The manager chose to sell Stearman and I still think that was a fair enough call, I don't think anything would have changed if he were still here. Then the rest of it is last season's team.

No-one is making him play crap formations, no-one is making him misuse Afobe, no-one is making him change the team every week, no-one makes him include Edwards and Doherty all the time, he isn't operating to a particularly tight budget, he isn't pressured by silly expectations like winning the league. It's all on him and he's failing, week on week. We can't just blindly hope he'll sort it out when nothing suggests he will.

What's kind of amazing is that so much of this is still completely relevant and true. Doherty's limitations are still obvious - but we've given him a four-year contract extension. We still don't really have a centre-back partnership that feels trustworthy, we're still lacking a decent alternative at 10 for Edwards (if Wallace doesn't work out), we've still got a young squad whose ability is often reliant on confidence, we've still not got a player who can do what Dicko does for us (as good as Afobe is, he's a different player, and he can't do Dicko's chasing and running), and so on, and so on.

Most damning is that the tactical problems are still really obvious, though. If a team does a decent job of getting at us and stopping us passing it from defence to attack we resort to long ball almost immediately. It doesn't work for us, and what's worse is that this season we don't have what amounted to a plan B last time: Bakary Sako getting frustrated and making a chance out of nothing. It worries me so much that the response from the coaching staff to the players having to lump it every time things aren't going their way isn't to fight that happening, and instead play to it by getting a player like Grant Holt in. It comes across as desperate stuff from Jackett - I've never been convinced in him on a tactical level but this is dismal, outdated thinking. And the thing I did rate him as, as a man manager, looks not to be working, so I can't really say I've got much more patience.

If we lose on Saturday, then he's gone for me. Use the international break to get someone new in and give them some time to get settled into the job before the first competitive fixture. It's harsh, but doing the same to Mick at this time of year in his last season might have saved us.

Agree with all of this btw (except he's done for me regardless of what we do on Saturday).

Three years as far as I know.

Why is three versus two or one a particular issue? Plenty of things to beat Jackett up with at the moment for sure. I am very definitely in the out camp myself. I just don't understand why the length of the KMac contract is a key point. Can you elaborate please?

People hoping he does well is just blind faith. At the end of the day there is no reason we can't win, we don't have that bad a squad and we know what this league is like.

Unfortunately it needs consistent good performances to do any good, and unfortunately our manager is not capable of delivering that.

Dean Saunders picked up the odd win here and there, but he was abysmal.

The powers that be should already be thinking, and quietly approaching, our next manager by now. If they aren't, then they have not taken heed of the lessons from history.

Who next? Here's one I don't think anyone has mentioned... Roberto di Matteo. Doesn't seem to be doing anything after steering Schalke from 11th to 6th in seven and a half months (still a Europa League place), and quitting following a disagreement over the future direction of the club in May 2015.

Not averse to the West Midlands either, but would many have a problem with his WBA connection (getting them promoted to the Premiership in his first full season)?

I’m sure when he was sacked one of the reasons given was that he wanted to spend more time in London than the West Midlands.

As for KJ it looks like we’re heading the sam way as we did under SS. Part of me says wait until Saturday but I suspect that is just delaying the inevitable as he seems to have lost the plot. If he stays I’d be surprised if we finished in the top half and fear we could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Lambert and Pearson would be good replacements but I have a suspicion JFH would be the best fit for us at the moment.

Agreed. An advantage of having a long contract is that it would also favourably reflect in the asking price should there be a parting of the ways.

Not sure that length of contract or its terms would be solely down to Kenny anyway.

Plenty of other issues to criticise him on rather than this

It was more the lack of planning for after Mick that damaged us. Yes we should have said bye bye in November but what came after Mick was a disaster of our own creation.

Through social media can the fans start setting the agenda about which manager they would want next?
Rather than having an Owen Coyle popularity contest on the back of the local newspaper why not have a Get Gary Rowett campaign on the local rags. It might get a response eventually from Rowett one way or the other and flush away some of the uncertainty.

When was the last time we were so reliant on the loan system? That worries me, but who do we blame?

With QPR sacking Ramsey, sacking Jackett now will divide the choices somewhat

I wonder if QPR will look at Jackett.

They are wanting to go down the Youth route after wasting Millions on players that don't give a shit. With Wolves making a big thing of using Youth under Morgan, maybe they could see him as the perfect fit for them.

Or will Big Tone go all mad again and spunk a crap load of cash for a "big name"

Colin will probably win a couple of games and get the gig permanently

Fair comment there are plenty of other things to beat Jackett up with at the moment.
I think McDonald is a luxury we can't afford and Jackett if he was any good at this level would see that.
IMO the whole 'structure' of the way our team is forced to be set up results from Jackett's blind faith in consistently playing McDonald, and this from a player who basically didn't bother trying again until he got his new contract.
Besides which, I thought the intention was to try and get into the Premier League? Assuming this was the intention at the start of the season, why would you bother giving someone a three year deal when it is patently obvious that he will never be good enough or quick enough to play at that level. (I suppose as has been said, it might improve the chance of getting a better price for him when you come to sell him - but how much is he actually worth?).
Back to 'the structure':
This business of the back four, getting the ball, giving it to McDonald who is ten yards in front of them, and him giving it to Goldbourne and him giving it him back and then passing it to Batth to lump forward to Afobe. Drives me nuts. It's rubbish, it might work in league one but it's never going to work in the Championship. It doesn't work for several reasons.
Besides which, the fact that we have two 'wide' men in midfield, then we have McDonald sitting in front of the back four or in our own half, automatically means we need two other players in the midfield to do the grafting, this results in having to play Afobe 'up front' on his own.
From what I have seen (and I admit it is far less than most of you, so I expect to be shot down for saying it) McDonald can't tackle, rarely heads the ball, rarely breaks sweat and poses little threat in the opposition half. He's good at passing the ball and even better at passing responsibility. Unacceptable for a centre midfielder.

Or we could wait until there is a managerial vacancy at Wolves?

Lets hope the fans have a part to play driving both issues. The sooner there is a managerial vacancy at Wolves the better.

I respectfully disagree - and hope the fans can get behind the team rather than hounding out the manager.

I'm clearly in a minority, unfortunately.

I would never hound out the manager but I feel the fans using social media have to have their voice heard when in it reflects the majorities thoughts/feelings.
