The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

He does trust him there. But De Bruyne is better suited to that role right now, being one of the best players on the planet and all that.

Why did he say this then?

If you’re going to stink the place now is the time to do it and key is not to lose.
However I think England will do it again within the next few matches.
Not beyond any possibility that we fall against Senegal or Ecuador if we come top.
Have a bad feeling Monday duped everyone a bit.

TV packed up around the hour mark and ‘watched’ the last half hour with sound on with a blank screen. Sounds a bit as though that was merciful.

I’ve never got the Mount and Rice thing and put that down to missing something obvious that the students of the game are picking up on, but I dunno. Digging them out might seem a bit unfair but we’re supposed to be winning tournaments and a Rice-Mount-Southgate-subbing-the-likes-of-Henderson-whilst-leaving-the-likes-of-Foden-on-the-bench combo just feels like we’re wasting everything and pissing in the wind.

Oh well, off to John Lewis to hammer the credit card tomorrow.

Not really duped, just for the Iran game we got the tactics spot on and everyone played well.
Tonight we couldn't cope with USA energy and athleticism and Bellingham, Saka, Sterling, Kane were all well below par.

Great stat just seen England have had more 0-0 draws in World Cup history than any other nation

Flea has gone skiing, don't you guys listen

Not really been mentioned, but I thought Saka was completely anonymous tonight too.

Criminal that he’s left Foden on the bench and when he was questioned about it post match, Southgate’s answer was far from convincing.

If a picture could tell a thousand words:

Tough watch, USA played for a draw, compact and tight well organised.

They cannot play like that in the knockouts it's banking on Pens it just won't work. They have some excellent players.

Southgate got it wrong, Foden should have come on for Mount, Henderson came on to take a draw, every interview he has said don't care how or what we have to get out the group, that was the prime objective barring a disaster against a Shit Welsh team he has done it.

I am gutted Wales did not get the win, my bar depends on Brits, we had a few in at 11 for Wales, rammed for England

I thought we played for a draw more than USA
