The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

Funny how all the talk is that England were shit, negative. No credit given to the opposition who pressed really well and stopped England getting into any rhythm.

Very 'top 6' like behavior.
Not really. We have a far superior team. Far superior teams don't beat weaker ones because of their own fallibilities, irrespective of how well the weaker ones played. USA played well, we played for the draw, there isn't a player in their team you'd put in our 11. That's not arrogance, it's just fact.

Our biggest weaknesses is the manager

Our biggest open is the manager

I'd take Mckennie and Musah over Rice.

It's said with an air of elitism. We are too good to be matched vibe.

How on earth you quantify that I don’t know, if Spurs drew with Watford it would be a disappointment and it’s not some sort of arrogance to expect to win when you’ve clearly got a better squad.

I’d take Pulisic over Sterling. Mind you I wouldn’t over Grealish or Foden who I’d play in front of Sterling every time if I was in charge.

It's not an England performance that was unique to how USA played tbf, its one we've seen a dozen or more times before. Laborious, slow, pathetically cautious. It wasn't really the opposition that forced the performance, it was the manager, he's just not good enough and is wasting a really talented group

No chance. McKenzie is nothing but an athlete.

Musah is ok but better than Rice. Come on.

Rice is good for West Ham in the role he's played. He's asked to do something completely different for England, he's not a good passer of the ball and he struggles when pressed as shown tonight.

He's an excellent passer of the ball.

That'll be the manager then.

I'd take Berhalter over Southgate, I'll give you that.

I'm not sure he actively tells him not to pass it forwards. Players have some level of autonomy even if the shape is admittedly quite safety first.

The exact same 11 players belted Iran 6 though so I don't think it's squarely on Southgate, even though I don't rate him.
