The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

3 teams per group puts to much jeopardy on the first games so expect a lot of 0-0 draws in the opening matches plus 2 draws will probably get you through. Also could easily end up with 3 sides with an absolutely identical record and having to use the fair play system.
My hope would be that the promise of essentially skipping a round would incentivize teams to keep going for it, even if they've already qualified.

More eulogising of an awful Wales team, who didn't turn up in any of their matches Great!

Romelu "Diego Costa" Lukaku on in desperation for Belgium.

Classic viewing from me - watch first half of a boring 0-0 then switch to the more exciting game. So now Belgium will end 7-7 - thank me later

Yeah if anything it's almost rubbing the relative rarity of the occasion in their faces.

Would be annoyed if I was Welsh watching that

"you know what though, Wales won.......friends and we sang our anthem louder than others"

Yep I can’t stand the “ good effort” brigade.
Attitude before a ball was kicked was very much one of getting out the group at least.
Suddenly it’s changed to a brave effort from such a small nation.

I have this awful sinking feeling that Roberto Martinez is going to get a job in MLS. Glad Charlotte's managerial situation is sorted.

My word Lukaku, how have you missed there?

Remember when Lukaku was good?

That ones even worse.

Wouldn't have counted anyway.

Landon Donovan: "I take back what I said earlier about Lukaku finishing these chances. Maybe he can't".

💥💥💥

Lukuka having a great few mins here!

At least he's livened the game up, both sides finally having a go.

I'd rather put more emphasis on trying to win the group than letting 3rd place finishers qualify, I think.

So IMO 4 in a group is broken already just by having the 16 extra teams involved.

Both scenarios are dreadful World Cup as it currently is, is just about as good as you can have it.
Not sure on the break down but assume it works as:
Europe 16
South America 8
Concacaf 6
Asia 9
Africa 8
Oceania 1

If that was today your teams would be:
France
Germany
Belgium
England
Spain
Portugal
Italy
Netherlands
Denmark
Croatia
Switzerland
Wales
Serbia
Sweden
Poland
Ukraine

Brazil
Argentina
Uruguay
Colombia
Peru
Ecuador
Paraguay
Chile

USA
Canada
Mexico
Panama
Jamaica
Costa Rica

Senegal
Morocco
Tunisia
Nigeria
Algeria
Egypt
Cameroon
Mali

Iran
Japan
South Korea
Australia
Qatar
Saudi Arabia
Iraq
UAE
Oman

New Zealand
