The NFL Thread

I don't get this? Everything is fine with Chicago, they're going to the Super Bowl, why are people not getting this?

Andy Dalton Tier ftw 😂

I’d swap Seattle and Green Bay tbh.

What is the significance of the Hippo (?) on the top tier?

If the NFL and player's association want to get serious about reducing the number of concussions in the game then they need to look at a process that only allows a $4600 fine for the guy who tried to take DeVonta Smith's head off on Sunday
It's just unnecessary, he was already being tackled by 2 players. Should be a significantly bigger fine and a 1 game ban IMO.

The CBA says the maximum fine for a first offence is 10% of the match fee. He's a rookie 'only'on $800kish p.a. Seems the PA are more interested in protecting those doing the hitting rather than those being hit.

I think there has to be a balance of both.

He should be punished and a ban and fine should be enough.

It should be a 3 have ban which would hit him more than a fine.

Two game ban with no pay would make players pay attention (angrily, but those hits have to stop).

There has to be a carrot as well.

I would like to see an education programme for all players to be included at school level and franchises should have to educate players as to the risk of hitting defenceless players in the head.

Bizarrely there is no mandatory education programme at any level!

It’s less that there’s nothing and more that there are a million different somethings; that stuff will be controlled by local school districts and therefore vary widely even within states.

Watched that live on Sky. Was pretty disgraceful. As said, he’s already going backwards. Thought the refs were already pretty hot on blowing plays dead these days after “no forward progress”. Not sure why they hadn’t blown it dead.

I don’t think education helps. Unless you are completely fucking stupid. He knows what he’s doing and is just trying to hurt him, so punishment/deterrent is only option IMV.

I think you’d be surprised how many coaches would applaud the hit. It’s a football culture problem more than an individual one. Which isn’t to say there shouldn’t be punishment in the meantime, of course.

Darnold and the Vikings at it again, up 21 to zip in Green Bay.

It doesn't look like a mirage and Darnold isn't fluking it either. First time the Eagles haven't been live so looked for redzone. Isn't it on Sky this season?

QB is a crucial position, obviously, but it’s importance is not proportional to its impact.

Which is to say, Darnold is proving how much a crap organization can hurt a player’s performance. Reminds me of a certain football club…

Meanwhile, the Panthers continue to look stunningly competent. I’m not sure when they last time they scored multiple offensive TDs in Charlotte was. Could have been the whole of last season.
