The NFL Thread

Didn't expect a Giants win. After the famous tank game a couple of years ago they and Washington could be on the opposite side of it this time if Philly locks up the number 1 seed before the final game of the year against NY.
2 very suspect calls went against Washington at the end of the game, one that took a game winning TD off the board. Really dodgy decisions, to the point that you start to suspect the NFL doesn't want a Dan Snyder team enjoying any success. But surely not...

Hurts sprained his shoulder and probably won't play on Saturday. Unfortunately the bookies got there too soon

Boo! Go with Josh Allen the most exciting QB in the NFL, not Mahomes, Trevor! Buffalo are also a proper working class fans team...
Ha, I know nothing about the politics within American Football.
Having said that, as a retired Trade Unionist and Prosecco socialist I shall be following the Buffalo Bills from now on.
As our friends across the pond might say, ‘ Go Bills’.

Don't fall for that Trev. Upstate New York has some of the richest areas in all of America. Follow a rust belt team, but not Cleveland

There’s an observation pool in Jacksonville’s stadium.

Buffalo is a real working class city, former industrial area that was affected more than many cities by the decline in manufacturing industry. It was seriously deprived even up until a decade ago. It has undergone a massive revival now for sure, but it definitely is not one of the richest areas in America. Not even close. It has been described as one of the best US cities for food and eating out though!

As an aside, as a former trade unionist myself, I chose the Bills partly because during the player strikes in the 80s, the Bills were one of the staunchest and most radical teams and their players went on the picket lines armed with shotguns and baseball bats. Football players aren't exactly struggling miners or factory workers but I liked their show of union solidarity and they became my team. No Pasaran!

I wasn't being particularly serious. Said before the Bills fanbase is among the best. Bills fans pride themselves as the only New York team so with that comes the wealth of New York State

Bills fans (Bills Mafia, named because they're a family, not because they put horses heads in the beds of their enemies), are a a unique bunch. A strange mix of drunken debauchery and overwhelming compassion and friendliness. Buffalo is called the City of Good Neighbours for a reason. Collectively some of the friendliest people I've ever met.

Buffalo is the Ferrix of America.

Specifically in how much of proper community it is. Like, bring a tear to your eye stuff.

It’s a good thing! 😅

Also my favorite band is (was?) from there.
