The NFL Thread

I could take 20 minutes before I turned over. As the coverage of college football here is pretty minimal (think BT have the rights) it’s just X team signs Y player of whom I have never heard. Much whoopin and hollerin.

You have songs. It's just that every one starts let's go

Chants innit

I think it's all a bit silly, chants, songs, costumes, etc. I know it will likely make me stick out like a sore thumb but I don't particularly plan on joining in with the singing when I make it to Molineux...

Probably not a a popular enough thread, but that line is a tap in for some

Yeah the appeal of the draft for me is seeing players I've watched in college for 3 or 4 years get their due (and maybe get lucky and I player I like gets drafted by New Orleans).

If you don't know who any of the players are, I can't imagine what would keep you watching the draft at all.

Yea, I'm there by round 2 and all I really have in round 1 is being clued up on other people's opinions. It being on in the middle of the night works over here, record it and distill over 4 hrs into under 1.

The freaks were still there on Thursday night though

I actually hate College football, but I watch this as my only draft prep for my dynasty football leagues.

This has gone over my head, I'm afraid.
There's only 1 stand that really sing, 2 who dabble and the other claps politely. There is a superiority complex amongst some in the first category

I think the both SB's are noisy these days. Can't say I notice a whole lot of difference. But the South Bank do think they're something special I agree.

That's the same in the US sports. The bleachers in baseball and behind the EZ in football.

Basketball and Hockey are the 2 strangest sports I've ever watched live. Almost no atmosphere for 3/4 of the game and then some kind of tension but no real support, more cheers and oohs.

I sit in the NB Upper, I can't say there's a noticeable noise to our side of the halfway line, perhaps there is to the SB side

I see the Bills are picking the biggest offensive line in history.

Two 6'8" tackles.

I didn't see the video but will search that out now.

I find the draft utterly bonkers but enjoyable. I wonder what percentage of drafted players actually make it in the NFL.

Looking into some picks, the different scouts/analysts have wildly different opinions. Some say a 5th rounder, some say a 6th/7th, then a team take him in the 4th. So who is it who actually knows what they are talking about!

Well not sure of how they define success, but only 50% of those drafted in the first round are classed as such. I think it's given a second contract at the team that drafted them.

I've read into it before and very few make it to 4 years I am sure. I also saw some quotes recently from the Ravens who are widely considered very successful, but they themselves basically admitted they knew it was a crapshoot, so looked at ways of favouring themselves, which was trade back and keep trying to get as many chances to get lucky, back coaching, compensentatory picks.

You notice that they seem to have a lot of players you don't see for the first year or two, but then look really good and will slide on when another player leaves.

Then you get the undrafted guys who end up being superstars like Thielen.
