The NFL Thread

Sport has moved on now though. The players have all the power and the profile. The older managers like Mourinho are being phased out. You need a more gentle approach with a bit of anger just for bad situations.

Whenever I see the team meetings on Hard Knocks or All or Nothing it always seems really cliched and forced positivity with the players invariably zoned out. I assume that's just for the cameras.

High school and college sports are so much bigger in the US. Coaches find it easy to shout at "kids" and I'm guessing this transfers into professional leagues.

There are idiots everywhere. Piss poor coaches shout and scream as they've lost any sort of control and their players belief. That's not shouting to be heard but screaming at them because they're not doing what they think should be happening.

It happens in most sports. That isn't to say you can't have a robust conversation or get your emotions out but it should be constructive if it is at a player no matter what the age.

Think about it from a players point of view, did you want to be shouted and screamed at and if you were did it get the best out of you when it happened? Or did you think that bloke was a complete twat?

The best example right now of a coach that has complete control is the current diety occupying our very own dugout.

XFL has filed for chapter 11 Bankruptcy

That's a shame a it was a decent watch. Circumstances have killed it, I hope it comes back in some form, hopefully with more teams.

Up for sale as well so there’s some hope for it.

Tampa in talks with Patriots over trading Gronk. He wants to play with Brady

Done deal apparently. For a 4th rounder! People love giving the pats picks

Gronk + 7th Rd for a 4th Rd.

Not surprising, he looks too old and beaten up now.

Gronk looked done in his last year with the Pats. I suppose a year out could have given his body time to recover. Gives Brady someone to check down to I suppose. They'll get a lot of US Primetime coverage, but I don't see it working out. They have a WR core that's built on having a QB with an arm, they just needed one to throw it less to the opposition

Already got Howard and Brate who are OK nothing more. Can’t seem him being a massive upgrade there.

I'd completely forgotten Brady had gone there too!

No big surprises in the 1st round at all. Packers taking a QB is a slight surprise but it makes sense, Rodgers is 37 and getting the heir apparent with plenty of time to learn is a good strategy.

Jerry Jones picking a player he doesn't need to spite Philly was quite entertaining. Stupid use of resource just to be a nob.

Tagovailoa is the interesting one. If he stays fit he might well be a better QB than Burrow.
