The first in a series of was it, should it, couldn't it chat.

First up. Alex Rae v Bolton in 2003 or Ruben Neves last season. I'm actually torn because Rae's volley was that good.

Rae's is the most powerful strike I've ever seen from a Wolves player. Caught it absolutely flush.

But it's got to be Neves. Especially as it was on my birthday.

I know there are folk out there that are going to feel the love for Rae.

better goal award goes to neves.

Can't choose between them. It's choosing between a rolls Royce or a bentley

Neves volley was probably the better of the 2, but as Cyber said it's choosing between two luxury items really

Difficult to pick, IMO. Neves has to recover from a bad first touch but equally Rae hits his at a really awkward height.

I'll say Neves because you feel he could do it again (and has done in training more than once). Rae, although I didn't see him play, I get the feeling that those sorts of goals weren't really his game and he probably wouldn't be able to replicate that.

I'd bloody love Alex Rae of 2001-2004 in this team.

Don't mean to say that he wouldn't be good enough for that (I honestly don't know), just that I get the impression he was more of a box-to-box dirty work kind of guy than a "holy shit that's a worldy" kind of guy.

Neves for me. Incredible technique and a more spectacular goal. To do that in front of the South Bank was brilliant.

He would have been perfect in the Dendoncker role in our current set up I think. Rae was truly excellent for us.

Rae's is much more difficult to execute.

is it? volley at the perfect spot in the bounce, easy to muff sure, but neves' was a controlled volley shot a bit off balance and from the side, plus the big dip

they're both good but I definitely didn't think that Rae's was 'obviously' more difficult

Neves takes a touch to set himself and hits it pretty much standing still, Rae running onto a dropping ball that's coming at him quickly.

Former much easier to adjust, set yourself and pick your moment whereas Rae just has to commit and get it bang on, no margin for error.

I still can't choose but I fully expect Neves to score a similar goal in his career. For Rae that was a one off.
