The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

I'm not sure his stock is going to be as high as some expect - I'd be astonished if Spurs were that interested. De Zerbi has come in and turned his team that were infamously poor in front of goal into a team who can score at will, without any additions of significance.

He won’t struggle for work in the PL probably not a sky 6 side but he’ll got a decent gig somewhere if that one goes south then his stock will drop considerably.

He's living off the style Brighton played under him, not even how good they actually were at it.

He's living off the style he built at Brighton?

The successful style he built which got him the Chelsea job and secured Brighton several years in the top flight.

And you think this wasn't any good?

Of all the daft takes on this board over the last 48 hours this is right up there.

He’s clearly got ability as a coach and I think he’s better suited to clubs that allow him to build. BHA were in a far better place than when he took over.

Not what I said; it's been pointed out (truly, IMO) that BHA are more dangerous going forward under De Zerbi.

Potter did a fair job at Brighton but you have to look at it also with the context of how De Zerbi has continued that work (and improved on it) as well as accepting that Brighton's success is also due in no small part to their bonkers transfer record recently.

He's fine.

And would it kill you disagree without saying "dumbest thing I've heard all weekend"?

No doubt De Zerbi has taken them up a notch. Nobody has argued against that but to say that Potter did a fair job is just silly given the resources he’s had and the style he implemented.

He got the Chelsea job on merit.

Got sacked on merit, too.

Both can be true.

Chelsea had been really poor under Potter, not sure how to argue that away.

They can but they aren’t in this case. Their recruitment has been shambolic this season. That’s clearly not down to Potter.
So he gets credit for Brighton’s good recruitment but a pass for Chelsea’s poor?

Sitting 7 places outside your target is gonna get you fired.

I don’t get the love-in. Agree to disagree.

Understand there have been already approaches for Julian Nagelsmann to be the new Chelsea head coach. Talks will continue to make final decision — but he’s the favorite. #CFC

No confirmation on Pochettino links at this stage. Nagelsmann, mentioned in internal talks yesterday.

I think it's more the caretaker doesn't really want it and the Chelsea fans still love him so gives the owner some space to decide on the manager to fill the June 23 - January 24 shift

Frank Lampard, set to become new Chelsea caretaker manager — there’s an agreement in principle valid until the end of the current season. Here we go.

Lampard has accepted short-term deal.

#CFC will continue process/talks to hire new head coach for long term project.
