The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

Looks like Pardew is getting a further stay of execution. Er, why? They've lost five games in a row and got knocked out of the cup...and I very much doubt they're beating Leicester next week.

According to the Telegraph it's because no one else wants it.

Good, he's doing a fine job.

I read somewhere that part of his contract is a bumper bonus if he keeps them up and if they sack him before relegation is confirmed they have to pay him the bonus as well as compo. Not sure if this is true but I see the logic (from Pardew's POV)

What good does sacking him do now? They're fucked regardless.

What good does sacking him do now? They're fucked regardless.

Teams who go down hopelessly adrift at the bottom of the Premier League with miserable points tallies and finishing on appalling runs seldom do well the following season a division lower.

Look at how our crop of 2012 - many of whom were once very, very, very good players at Championship level - were mentally destroyed by losing every single week for months on end, never to recover properly. You could easily argue that Sunderland do not have one of the worst three squads in the league this season. But there is a culture of losing and negativity there.

Pardew has shown no signs of producing anything positive and in footballing terms there is equally no reason for him to stay on for another 9-10 weeks. Although of course Lupo's theory might be right, in which case there's no point in West Brom throwing money away.

Dean Smith will go there in the Summer. No advantage in him doing so now though.

Walsall Football Club have today parted company with manager Jon Whitney.

Southampton have sacked Pellegrino

Who on earth are they going to bring in now?

They've been dull as fuck all year, seems an odd time to make a change though.

Surprising timing with Wembley within touching distance

Not when you look at their league position it isn't and the fact they've just been tanked by Newcastle definitely didn't help.

The manager is a dead man when he admits that his own players gave up. They've been absolutely abysmal all season.

Shouldn't have sacked Puel like they did.

1 win in 17 for Saints apparently, not good enough.

Pellegrino has still won more games at the Hawthorns this season than Alan Pardew.

Terrible appointment, only surprising part is that he wasn't sacked sooner.
