Nice inner monologue there, Pavlos.

ha ha call me what you will on here, but i tell it like it is. And Poyet versus cypro, ha ha ha one horse race.

Actually i have been AEK here since 1989 when i arrived and was asked what my Greek team was. I asked who played in black and yellow, they said "AEK" and that was it.

I've been through some great times with them, and recently some serious shit, but they are still my Greek team.

I have been to watch them a few times, but seriously guys, when you enter a Greek football stadium, not knowing which end you are going in, you really are taking your life in your hands.

Total nutters, fireworks are used like mortars, the police are too busy having a fag and a coffee, and leaving the ground afterwards, wherever you parked your car, there is only one direction to travel and that is away! for a drink in town, and come back for your car much later.

Do you literally start each post by laughing twice every time Pav?

Remi Garde becomes Aston Villa manager

Aston Villa have completed a deal to bring in Remi Garde as their next manager.

Remi Garde will be accompanied in the role of assistant manager by Réginald Ray.

The Premier League side are set to announce Garde’s appointment tomorrow. The former Lyon boss is believed to have signed a three and a half year deal.

Kevin MacDonald will return to his position within the Aston Villa academy after tomorrow’s match against Tottenham where he will complete his role as interim boss.

His Lyon team were very good to watch. You would think he should be able to get plenty out of the French imports - genuinely cannot understand how Westwood was still getting gametime while Veretout was sat on the bench - but it's goalscoring that's the big issue. Agbonlahor is finished at that level, Gestede is incredibly limited and playing a league above his level, Ayew the Lesser is a pretty poor footballer. Kozak has barely featured since his injury but even before then he didn't look very good, a bit of a deluxe Maierhofer.

Sunderland, Bournemouth (post-injury ravages) and Villa look the three weakest teams in the league to me at the moment.

Veretout is a fantastic footballer, with the new coach in place its likely he will soon be able to show his quality. Ayew has lots of scope for improvement and he could do a lot better than expected, especially in a front three.

You'd think Sunderland have a chance of turning it around, fair chance of goals through Fletcher and Defoe and you'd think with time Allardyce could make them more robust in the opposite direction.

Bournemouth have been very unfortunate with injuries but should still be a useful experience for them, not to mention a healthy financial boost.

You would have thought Allardyce would have worked on basic defensive organisation during the week, yet the way they played today suggested they spent much of the week down the pub.

I think gestede will be fine if they get another quick player in and around him..clearly as Dan says, their offensive play is their problem

When Remi Garde was at Lyon he managed to get the best out of Bafétimbi Gomis a goal every other game.

In fairness to Big sam trying to strengthen that defence is a bit like polishing a turd

I agree but there is always a team who drops like a stone and gets dragged into it. I fear that will be Swansea this season.

Just requires a mouthpiece as Wolves found with Williamson, there's little communication within the Sunderland back four and the midfield went missing for long spells. Everton could hardly believe the space they were given to operate in.

I would add norwich and maybe newcastle to the mix

Playing a nonsense back three was Sunderland's downfall today, no-one looked like they knew what they were doing. Allied to that their starting position was way too high given that Coates and Brown would be outpaced by an arthritic sheep.

Sheep can be surprisingly nippy when they want/need to be.
