They are clearly impressed with him "promoting" Doncaster 2 years ago

Hearing Dean Saunders to be new Chesterfield boss. Club say they will announce Paul Cook's replacement at 12pm tomorrow.

May God have mercy on their souls.

Those poor Chesterfield fans, probably as good as they've ever had it under Cook, about to jump off a cliff into the embrace of Saunders.

Odds on them getting relegated will be interesting before and after 12pm tomorrow...

Now please do not have me hung, drawn and quartered, but at Wolves and Crawley, Dean took over in mid season with the teams not doing particularly well. Maybe with a full pre season, he can bring in his own players and maybe do quite well.

But there again...!

I feel sorry for the poor cunt looking after the training pitches at Chesterfield. Six months of Saunders ball and our pitches were absolutely fucked as he only ever worked in the goalmouths.

I would very much doubt it as the man is a fucking idiot. He plays for 0-0 draws when you need to win.

It could happen, but then Wolves could get 138 points next season.

He is inheriting a side that probably over-achieved to make the playoffs under St Paul of Cook. To see what can happen the next season I refer you to Orient.

Cook's nice football to Deano's formation lottery and hooooof ball.

Chesterfield have just announced that Dean Saunders has been appointed as their manager.

All that good work of the last couple of seasons about to be undone in super quick time.

Nothing short of insanity.

Think I'll have a tenner on them going down when the odds come out, should be pretty long and Deano's unmagic will have them struggling.

The whole thing just seems a bit bizarre.

Can't see why Cook would jump ship for Portsmouth to begin with? He's been flying with Chesterfield and you'd think with the new ground behind them too they'd be set pretty well for further progression if he stuck around, why would you want to abandon that for Pompey?

Then why have Chesterfield rushed into such a shit appointment so quickly? It's not even been a week since Cook said he was going and they've already appointed his successor, a complete moron to boot, you'd think with the progress they've made recently and the good fortune of 3 months without football coming up they'd take their time and make sure they got this next appointment right.

Pompey are a bigger club than Chesterfield, it's not quite on the scale of Jackett leaving Millwall for Wolves even though we were in a lower division at the time, but similar. They should really be walking L2 but the managers they've appointed haven't been up to the task. I can see why Cooky went there.

You're absolutely right about Chesterfield's decision making though, seriously WTF? What have they EVER seen in him that makes them think he's the man and it's not like you need to rush either.

Liverani binned by Orient, had to happen. What a disaster area that club has been over the last year.

Gus Poyet could be the new boss of Leeds
