The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2014/15

I saw his interview on SSN, and you could do a pretty mean drinking game with every lie he tells. I didn't believe anything he came out with - knee injury indeed :icon_lol: How did he get that, then - tripping over Rosie? I'd have that bloody dog put down if I were you, 'Arry - she's caused you no end of problems.

I don't suppose he fancied a quick phonecall to Mick McCarthy to see how he managed to carry on with his leg in plaster - probably no Ipswich players he fancied signing.

And I'm sure that the fact his resignation came less than 24 hours after the transfer window is pure coincidence? Maybe his prospective signings thought "I'm not working for him if he's got a gammy leg."

Bullshit central. It was almost like it was written for Comic Relief.

He had Hoddle there for too long as he obviously wanted to prove to the players that he could do things better than they could. The problem is when you can't trap the ball because of your gammy knee and you still looked better than most of the squad that you brought to the club (without the chance of spunking a few more million on overpaid shite) you know its time to jack it in.

Apparently 2 days into his role at QPR he told Harry he didn't have the players to play 3-5-2. So pretty much a wasted stint for the Cuntmeister there

Didn't stop him before...

Harry Redknapp has told the BBC that he will return to football management.

Clive Whittingham is a really good writer.

This piece is spot on:

Let’s give a really brief, really harsh, assessment of Harry Redknapp’s two years as QPR manager. He signed 21 players permanently at a cost of £58m, not including the undisclosed fee for Reading keeper Alex McCarthy, and almost that many on loan. He sold or released 25 for a recouped amount of £21.5m. For all of this, QPR currently play with a striker at right wing, a central midfielder at left wing, and a 36 year old centre back with no ankles at left back. Redknapp took over a club in the bottom two of the Premier League going into an away game at Sunderland, and he leaves a club in the bottom two of the Premier League going into an away game at Sunderland. He’s achieved nothing in two years, and he’s spent millions. We are exactly where we were when he took over, and the accounts say we've lost obscene amounts doing it.

Gary Johnson sacked by Yeovil

"Gary took the Glovers from the Conference to the Championship and is regarded as one of the best managers in the Football League. More importantly, he is one of the most successful managers in Yeovil Town's 119 year history."

Can any other managers at Yeovil claim more success than going from the Conference to the Championship?

I doubt it very much. Though Yeovil are in a terrible run of results, but maybe they over achieved and are now finding their natural level.

Didn't he take them to League 1 then go off and manage Bristol City (almost to the Prem), Posh (Badly) and then Northampton (badly) before returning to Yeovil to get them to the Championship

If memory serves his spell at Posh was goals galore at both ends. At one stage I think they were both the highest scorers and worst defence in the division.

Didn't Johnson nearly leave Yeovil earlier in the season? Some problem with him not turning up for a game or something similar I think
