Cardiff City set to finally appoint Russell Slade as their manager. And Vincent Tan hopes that Slade is at Cardiff for a very long time.

I think Tan said something about Slade being at Cardiff for as long as Wenger has been at Arsenal. So yes, gone by January, or sooner...

Does this mean Slade will no longer be playing the caretaker in Big School?

Just been announced officially for Russell slade on bbc wales, personally appointed and chosen by Vincent tan, they then went on to say he has to be given time,at least until the end of the season, and has to prove himself to players who've played at the top level, not brimming with enthusiasm by the sounds of it.

Tan is bonkers if he thinks Slade is an 18 year solution. Way over the top. If he can stabilise Cardiff that would be a start.

Strange appointment. I read that if Slade makes it to 18 years he'd be 81 or around that? :icon_lol:

Won't last 18 months anyway.

18 weeks would be good going I think.

Daily Mail (yes I know) reporting that McKinlay is leaving Watford.

Really? I just read that he had stopped working as an assistant for Northern Ireland to concentrate on it?

Are Watford trying to break Leicester City's record for the most managers in a season?

On WFCForums.com they seem to think the Pozzos have someone lined up for the job and that McKinlay was just a stop-gap on a short contract.

Staggering. The Pozzos look insane. italian club owners so why should there be a shock.

Keller to Hamburg then,in a month's time.

About time he's coming under some pressure. I'm actually going to give him some credit for once - fair play on him for not signing the contract Fernandes has foolishly shoved under his nose. The semblance of a conscience from old H, who'd have thunk it.

However - he has built a team that is criminally slow, in the Premier League that is such an obvious sin and he can't hide behind it being players he inherited, he has been there long enough, been given enough money and signed enough players to put his own stamp on it. I've mentioned it more than once this season already - what the hell does he think is going to happen with a midfield of Fer, Sandro and Kranjcar? The latter two can't run and the first one won't, the lazy bastard. The way they play is so laboured, exactly the same as last season in the Championship. Why wasn't he addressing that fatal flaw that was obvious for everyone to see?

It is inexcusable for him to be moaning that "the players aren't fit yet" as he did after the West Ham game. It is early October for crying out loud. It cannot help in that respect that he has an absolutely ancient coaching department - which he built - where part-time Glenn Hoddle is the youngest member at the age of 57.

He cannot be complaining about a lack of goals when Remy left as it was quite obvious that he was available, had a release clause and was highly likely to leave - ample opportunity to plan for his departure. Liverpool nearly signed him in July. Moreover - they struggled for goals last season. Badly. Kevin Bond was publicly bemoaning the lack of goals last December. Charlie Austin looks so isolated every time they play and they have virtually no threat beyond set pieces from Kranjcar.

Planning to use a 3-5-2 system with players who have never played that system is just crazy - it's a horribly flawed system at heart and he doesn't have the players to use it. As the article points out, he swiftly had to ditch it as it predictably looked a shambles and he has just wasted a load of time on that. Also he still has not addressed the awful, defeatist way he sends teams out away at the big clubs. Speaks volumes that he has never, ever, ever won so much as a single Premier League point at Old Trafford. His teams - be it Spurs, Pompey, West Ham, QPR or Southampton - have always looked beaten before they step on the pitch at places like that.

They're bottom on merit with some horrible fixtures coming up. He no longer looks like he wants any of this any more and it shows. If Fernandes wants to survive this season - despite all the flaws I mention, they have a chance of making it yet as there are some poor teams in the bottom half - then he has to shake hands with Redknapp soon and give someone else a go. They'll go down easily if he stays, the problems with his approach are just too deep rooted.

They've appointed Les Ferdinand as 'Head of Football Operations. It's a real old pal's act for Redknapp there with his support staff
