The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Giving ourselves the largest chance of staying in this division outweighs that.

We've survived now, it's done. This is just a long pre-season now.

Pithiness aside, you could be looking at up to £10m in wages and January premium, and we wouldn't miss him if he never set foot in Wolverhampton again (cookies aside)

As things stand I wouldn't get rid of Hwang or Guedes this window. We are unlikely to get reinforcements to replace them, so keep them until the summer as they at least provide a warm body that isn't totally useless (though Hwang borders on that most games he can still chip in a few goals). Come the summer I'd sell Hwang for anything we can get as his footballing ability is less than negligible.

I hope he doesn’t play much if he stays but we don’t want a repeat of past seasons whereby we’ve not had a proper striker available for long periods of the season. Larsen gets injured first game in February and survival is far from assured- it’s not assured if he stays fit, but if he does our chances are much better.

Dunno if this tongue in cheek or just wildly optimistic but we're still in deep shit imo, only takes a few mistakes or bits of bad luck and we're in real danger again. I'm more confident since Vitor came in and with the last 3 results but it's still 50/50 for me.

Yep we’re better off than expected 2 weeks ago but could easily go down still especially if transfer targets aren’t reached and Cunha has a prolonged injury.
Out the 5 clubs down there as it stands we’re best placed to get out of it but that could change quickly.

Whilst it would free up a non-HG space in the squad, he'd need to be replaced immediately so we'd be no better off financially.

Larsen can't play every minute up front and Hwang is the only one suited to playing through the middle if we need him to. All it takes is an injury or a red card to JSL and we'd be forced into playing Guedes up top again.

Plus we know Hwang can get goals given games and service. Anyone we'd bring in would be a complete unknown and I don't think that's a risk we should be taking in our situation.

Agree apart from the last bit. No reason a player we bring should be a complete unknown.

He's 4th choice in a position where we play 3. For the money we could get for him I'm sure we could improve that 4th position. I'd sell but only after we've bought that other player in, as we know how it works at Wolves when done the other way round.

When I say unknown I mean in the sense of we don't know how he'll settle in or perform for us.

We don't want another Guedes Mk1 foisted on us by Mendes, who is utterly unsuited to Prem football.

Thought there'd be more noise around Agbadou today. He reported flew in over the weekend and was due to have his medical. I imagine he'll be at the game tonight at least.

Sign officially tomorrow, a few days trading then straight into the team for the FA Cup against Brizzle. Hopefully alongside Meupiyou.

Later in the week according to LL, work permit needs sorting
