The January 2025 Transfer Thread

When's Sasa due back in full training?
Reports had him back on grass at the end of November and was a couple of months away from being ready.

As per Tony above:

“He’s three or four weeks away from training with the group and then he’s going to need a decent block of training with the group, and then the Premier League itself is very different from training."

“It will be a big ask for him to have a big impact this season but that will be his aim and that will be my aim, to push as hard as we can to get him in and around it."

Really hope he can leave all his injury woes behind him and start rebuilding his career, but if he gets on the pitch for us again I'd just be waiting for the next setback.

Must be in the back of his mind too, need some mental strength for that shit

Hwang is limited but if played centrally is a goal scorer. I would keep him unless we got a big offer for him. We can consider a sale in the summer.

You've only got to look at what two serious injuries did to Jonny.

Not at the game tonight then? Can’t remember which journo initially stated that. Might have even been Fab Rom.
doesn't matter whether he is at the game or not does it? long gone are the days of parading signings around.

Too many of our squad are players you wouldn’t mind coming on for 15-20 minutes - Doc, Santi, Toti, Doyle, Guedes, Hwang - but they can’t be regular starters at this level.

Then you’ve got Bellegarde who I’ve seen people say “we’re not playing him in his best position”. I’d say to that, what the fuck is he?! Needs binning completely.

You’ve got your young up and comers who look like they have something about them - Lima - and the ones with more question marks - Forbs - who you don’t mind getting some game time, but not week in week out.

and finally, your players that have made it obvious they want out, or aren’t in the managers plans - Lemina, Sarabia.

Any player we bring in this month needs to be oven ready. Players that can slot straight in to the first team squad and play from day 1. This is a window where we need to move away from the “young up and comers”. When we signed Lemina & Dawson, there weren’t many shouting from the rooftops about them, but they were so solid and reliable - that is what we need.

I’m convinced after tonight that Sarabia and Lemina will leave this month. We need readymade replacements through the door immediately to give the squad some depth, balance and to give the manager the tools to do his job. Obviously this all depends on Jeff Shi, so we can’t let our expectations get too high - but that’s the kind of window we need.

We’ve amassed an astonishing depth of terrible inside forwards. Bellegarde, Forbs, Hwang, Guedes - incredible. Sarabia actually has quality, but he’s checked out anyway so we’re left with theoretical depth but practically nothing. Bellegarde, Forbs and Hwang offer absolutely zero. There is no scenario in which I’d be unhappy if they were gone.

Last night just proved that the squad is to thin and frankly at full strength unbalanced and not good enough.
To many holes need plugging with not enough money and time to do it.
Therefore priority is plugging the biggest hole which CH, 1 probably isn’t enough get 2 that can hit the ground running then I think we can manage other shortfalls until the summer.

All paperwork signed on Agbadou and medical completed. He is waiting for his Visa and will then travel to England. All being well will be available for Brizzle

Yeah, realistically we can only solve the most pressing issues this month, with a view to staying up and continuing the process in the summer.

I'd love another wide forward option though that isn't beige like most of the rest
