The January 2025 Transfer Thread

I think it'd be stupid to get rid of him in January. There are important goals in him between now and May.

In the summer I'd be less bothered as long as he went for a decent fee and was replaced with quality.
The flipside to that is that there might not be another bid in the summer.

I'd get rid of him, now his hot streak has finished (a year ago now - he scored 4 league goals in 2024 and 2 of them were in the very last week) he offers so little in general and there are pretty much no circumstances where I'd ever want him to start a game.

I think I'd take that risk. We should've gotten rid in the Summer when Marseille were offering €20M+, his value has certainly dropped since then but there will still be interest in him.

Hopefully he stays fit between now and the end of the season. That's the biggest thing with him for me. He's never available when you need him.

I still think his intelligence (when attacking, specifically) is very underrated; he can be more than just a finisher. In some ways I feel he’s a player out of time; neither a winger nor a striker in an era that has totally moved on from playing two center forwards together. In that respect, he’ll likely always be a squad player at this level and not much else, so I at least get the arguments for selling sooner than later.

Are we still taking about Hwang? 😵‍💫

I'd happily bin Hwang, Guedes, Bellegarde and Sarabia this month and sign two proper attacking players. But it won't happen.

I'd keep Hwang and Guedes as they are good fits for the inside forward role opposite Cunha and there's the potential that they could score some important goals between them from that position.

If Sarabia doesn't want to know under Victor Peartree then get rid. Talented player and he hasn't shown half of what he's capable of at Wolves but just draw a line under it and get someone in who wants to be here. If Vítor can get him interested for 6 months then I'd be happier with him coming off the bench when we're chasing a result than someone like Forbs.

Bellegarde just isn't good enough.

Yeah I'd rather unload Bellegarde than Hwang or Guedes. Finding competent goal scorers is a big ask in the January sales.

I read this in my head in the voice of the 'In A World...' trailer narrator 😅

In no way is Guedes a reliable perfomer let alone goalscorer - people readily forget his Everton and West Ham "contributions" and it wasn't even a month ago, and his career goalscoring record is fucking shit.

Hwang hasn't been a reliable source of goals for over 12 months and if he doesn't score then he's one of the worst players in the league.

There's 6/7 goals between them from that position between now and the end of the season IMO. It's not anything special and definitely an area we should look to address in the summer but add that to Cunha & Jørgen and it's a front three which should keep us up if we solve the obvious personnel issues at the back.

Like you said, if we can get in 2 better options in those positions then it's a no brainer to get rid but it's not going to happen.

Oh yeah. I'm talking in an ideal world here.

Neither of them are good enough long term and we are finally in the PSR position this summer of being able to get rid of Guedes without it crippling us.

If we can get that Gerson fella from Flamengo then he can play both RM and CM and has scored goals in both positions. Would be an ideal signing that can cover both. Probably more of a CM tbh though.

Many will be happy to hear Godfrey has gone on loan to Ipswich.

Or a new hot streak has just begun 😉 2 shots on target, 2 goals.

Jokes aside I’d get rid. As previously mentioned does very little in general. Good engine but could get no farah for that.
