The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Hah, of course, you're allowed to rate players differently from me.

Personally give me the earnest trier who falls short over the big pants prima donna any day.

Podence on his socials seems to get on well and be well liked by most of the squad, so it seems in person (at least) he's alright. Our perception as fans is different because we don't know him on a personal level, so all we can judge is the diving and general petulance on the pitch. I'm not sure if we'll ever know the full truth about what happened with him being left at Compton by Lop, or being re-integrated back in to the squad with GoN, but I'm sure the truth would be somewhere in the middle. He isn't anywhere near the level of twat that Nunes is.

I always felt a bit uncomfortable when people gave him hysterical nicknames like "poison dwarf" and such, too.

For me, he scored some important goals for us in a pretty abysmal side. He never seemed to lack effort, so he may well have come across like a bit of a bellend, but I wish him the best with his move. He's nowhere near a list of "top 10 most hated Wolves players". Hopefully we get a few quid for him next summer.

hey! Nothing wrong with "the poison dwarf", i was the poison dwarf on beacon radio for 3 to 4 years, loads of fun, met a load of famous people, trained with wolves, and made a few bob in the process, didnt ever spit at anyone, though i almost decked Larry Grayson 🤩

Had your eyes on Everard did you?

Love that for you but it gets used as a negative in much the same way that hurling someone's sexual orientation ("that's gay") at them used to be. We've moved on from the latter and should move on from the former.

No problem al, it was a few years ago now and makes me laugh evert time

I hear it, however its used.

It wasn't true though. He didn't spit. There's video evidence to support that fact.

I get that he's quite a petulant player and he dives, unfortunately that's modern football. English players dive as much as anyone.

That you "wouldn't have been surprised" if he'd spat at a Forest player says more about your own preconceptions of a player who didn't spit and as far as I know has NEVER spat at an opponent.

He doesn't have form for it. The vilification of him is OTT, in fact it's just weird.

He's far from my favourite player but he deserves more respect from Wolves fans who are treating him as if he's downed tools and forced an exit.

As far as I can tell, it's the club who have forced him out, following what was his best season for us, finishing joint top scorer with our penalty taker.
Pretty sure in the article it says wasn’t proven. And yeah, it’s just my preconception and my opinion. Haven’t said he has done it, just don’t personally think he comes across as a likeable character. You asked a question, I’m just answering with my opinion, dude …

If he was a dwarf it would be discrimatory, he isn't so it isn't. It's a fine line from people defending racist comments because they are ginger and people have taken the piss out of them all their lives. Rallying against none existent discrimination weakens the real fight against those things which are.

I don't understand this at all.

People use the word "dwarf" to insult him; there are real people out there with the real condition of dwarfism. Him not personally being an actual dwarf doesn't come into it. It's applying the negative connotation to "dwarf" as a condition that is the issue.

Using someone's sexual orientation against them. Podence isn't a dwarf, so it's not the same

Isn’t this abit looking to far into it?

Okay, perhaps that was unclear.

"Gay" used to get used all the time as a simple insult term. Didn't like something? It was "gay".

Latching onto Podence's height and using a term for a class of people as part of the insult is following very similar logical lines.

I don't think so, no.

We just tore into the refs for using Onana's name but not Saša's. Words are important.

Anyway, said my piece, we don't need to carry it on further.

OK, so it's the use of that particular word you have an issue with rather than the general reference to his height? I can respect that

The English language is wide and varied, it's not hard to find a different descriptor or try to be a bit nicer in general.

Now, about the way Podence pretends he's playing FIFA Street with his flick ons that go straight into a defender when he could've just passed to an open team-mate...

It's a plague on our whole team but he is the absolute King of hitting a 5 yard pass 3 yards.

Cruyff-turn, fall over, rinse and repeat. Sure I saw him fuck that three times in one sub appearance last season.

If he wasn’t so high in his own supply, he really could be some player. Maybe that’s my extra frustration with him.

He declined to go to the Portuguese training camp in the Summer and when O'Neil tried to integrate him to the group he acted like a dick and was kicked out again. Although the club told him at the end of last season that he was available for transfer, he chose to act the way he did, the opposite to Jonny who was in exactly the same situation
You saying that is the first I've heard of it. Do you have any links to back up these accusations?
