The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Had 1 good revival season in the closed door 20/21 season, pretty much everything that season needs an *️⃣ next it

“That guy who couldn’t get in Forest’s team ahead of the guy who couldn’t get in our team? He’s the one.”
That probably sums up the club logic at this time

The phrase “scraping the barrel” comes to mind.

The problem is, we don’t really have anyone that can play effectively as a right winger. None of us know where Enso is (in terms of readiness), Neto is better on the left, Sarabia is pretty ineffectual there. Maybe Bellegarde can play there in a similar role to how Nunes was?

J-Lingz is not the answer, but I can understand the thinking in getting someone in who could play on that side. Especially if Sarabia potentially goes.

Madeley has written the same piece as Percy, just slower. Clearly been a mass briefing. Watch out for Liam's version on Monday

What has Podence done to warrant all the shitty comments about him?
He just seems fairly unlikeable with his constant theatrics and general demeanour and flair players like that do tend to get some stick when teams are underachieving/struggling.

Then there was the spitting situation, which naturally ‘wasn’t proven’ but a lot of people on here (including me) wouldn’t have been surprised if it was true.

It wasn't true though. He didn't spit. There's video evidence to support that fact.

I get that he's quite a petulant player and he dives, unfortunately that's modern football. English players dive as much as anyone.

That you "wouldn't have been surprised" if he'd spat at a Forest player says more about your own preconceptions of a player who didn't spit and as far as I know has NEVER spat at an opponent.

He doesn't have form for it. The vilification of him is OTT, in fact it's just weird.

He's far from my favourite player but he deserves more respect from Wolves fans who are treating him as if he's downed tools and forced an exit.

As far as I can tell, it's the club who have forced him out, following what was his best season for us, finishing joint top scorer with our penalty taker.

I guess it doesn’t help he’s such a frustrating player. Even on an availability basis he was never consistently fit.

The fact Lopetegui had him training separate to the group and then for O’Neil to give him a chance and then waste it very quickly suggests he’s a bit of a tit though

The whole Kilman captaincy thing - what I'm looking for in our centre back is to have a commanding presence . I'm not overly concerned that he is lacking captaincy skills - whatever they are these days .
I simply want him to command his penalty area - thou shalt not pass kind of a thing .
If you asked me to name the captain of several Premier League clubs I would struggle . However if we had a commanding presence at the back , a strong organiser in midfield and a real goal threat up front , then I'm not overly bothered by who the captain is .

Why Kilman was chosen I have no idea . It seems to be weighing him down too , and it's unlikely , and wouldn't be a good look to remove it at this point I would have thought .

He declined to go to the Portuguese training camp in the Summer and when O'Neil tried to integrate him to the group he acted like a dick and was kicked out again. Although the club told him at the end of last season that he was available for transfer, he chose to act the way he did, the opposite to Jonny who was in exactly the same situation

I take a harsher view on Pod than most, but for me it's wild that people think of him in a more positive light than Adama.

End product
Barely. I'll just use Prem stats since the quality of opponent in Cups is so variable.

Adama: 157 apps, 10 goals, 15 assists (~8700 minutes)
Daniel: 91 apps, 12 goals, 6 assists (~5200 minutes)

348' vs 289' minutes per goal involvement doesn't move the needle significantly for me as both numbers are way, way off in "not good enough" land, but Daniel adds his atrocious attitude to the mix.

For those curious, taking account of all competitions moves Adama to 324'/involvement and Daniel all the way down to 218'/involvement.

I loved Adama during his purple patch but either side of that it's been awful in terms of G&A

Podence has at least consistently produced G&As

Podence would at least carry some threat whereas Adama hasn't for a long time.

This doesn't mean I like Podence's attitude, but I would choose him over Adama in a straight choice between the two.
