The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Looking at the appearances he's made for all his clubs seems like now at Nice is the closest he's ever come to holding down a first team spot all season. Never saw him he do anything at Juve to warrant being at a club like that, didn't look like he was a class above at Southampton or Fulham.

He's obviously not a complete sack of shit who you wouldn't trust to be on the pitch but he's an absolute nothing player from what I've seen of him. Stands around in near enough the right place most of the time and runs around a bit.

Of course, he's the epitome of average but that's better than Hodge coming on imo. The way we seem to want to play means we'll have to rotate quite a lot, whether in game or with shorter breaks between games. I'd want to see 2 midfielders come in anyway.

I don't think it is. We would have 3 defensive midfielders on the pitch which would still have bought Villa onto us.

Likely missed it but thought it was interesting that I guess we're so collectively over him that no one really commented on the optics of a left back being preferred over a big money inside forward signing to come on and play inside forward. Pretty damning really.

I'd take lemina, I'm still paranoid we won't get anyone else in which probably colours my thinking about being happy with lemina.

It's comparable to the Craig Dawson discussion in August. I don't want Lemina, like I didn't want Dawson, but if the alternative is nothing...
But to quote your namesake Mr Bell it doesn't have to be like that

I agree with Paddy, that seems daft to me.

I can't imagine JL took the job knowing his best midfield reinforcement would be a player who is less than bang average.

What if JL wants him though?

Don't think JL would accept a player forced upon him like Lage did

If he was on his list of targets I would challenge JL's standards of player.

By his history it looks as though he wants better than that.

Lets hope so
Hope so? Hope so?

Dear Christ.

The manager has specifically said he wants at least six. First one in on day one. Everyone in the club talking about multiple signings.

And you want Lemina because you are scared not taking him means nobody?

Jesus fucking Christ

This isn't exactly the first time we've been through this particular rodeo.....

I think he can cope with us faceless nobodies dissing his targets.

I know very little about the player but sometimes it comes down to how he would fit into the idea being put together. If JL wants him he sees him slotting in somehow.
He certainly isn't a wow target or a big money signing to get fans drooling but then not every player needs to be that.

Think back to Benno signing for example, the majority of the reaction was meh at best. We were all convinced Nuno would get rid sharpish...a few months later he is a key player and Nuno struggled to replace him. Sometimes the meh turn out to be key and the big money signings are actually a bit shit.

The one thing this won't be is a Scott Sellars I've signed this lad for you, make it work special.

So far we haven't had a reliable link have we? Just a few twitter links that could well just be an agent stirring up interest moment.

No reliable links at all which is good.

The trouble with your story about Benno is he was already a competent CB at Championship level. Lemina isn't at PL level.

Lemina isn't going to displace Nunes or Neves at any point and he's not a 10 or 8 as Moutinho has been playing.

Pointless buying a back up for essentially a month until Boubacar comes back.

Better off buying an actual footballer who can play in the Moutinho role.

Bennett was more an example of when we don't want a player but he turns to not what we expected.

As we were linked to him before Traore got crocked wouldn't be to back him up would it.

Lopetegui will build this squad differently to Nuno and Scott Sellars so it wouldn't be a surprise to see us spend £5m-£6m on a squad player rather than a starter

Have a feeling this is all just a wasted conversation anyways ( that would usually mean we are signing him tomorrow...so sorry for that)
