Knows the club is the biggest load of bollocks ever used for a reason to sign a footballer. Do I take it that other clubs use different balls and pitches?

As for fit in straight away, we have lost nearly all of the players since he was last here, got a new manager/coaching staff and a different system which is totally unsuitable for his limited skill set.

Great experience - yes there's not much he couldn't teach us about the types of benches he sat on and the clothing required to stay warm.

Benched under elite managers more like and rated worse by the users of the fighting cock than our good selves which in itself is quite an achievement.

Has something to prove? Quite possibly but he's past 30 now and only going in one direction.

No brainer to sign him? Yes we have 4 right backs with first team experience at the club so we needed another just in case.

Lopetegui has watched videos's of him - Please someone show him the (Reading?) gif where he has his hand in the air and then half heartedly runs back to goal when they are clean through.

The fact one of the richest clubs in the world have better CHs doesn’t make Maguire a bad player.
Neither does playing for your country make you a decent PL player. The two aren't linked.

Maguire played in a low block back 5 for England because Southgate is firstly a pretty defensive manager. Put him in that system facing away from goal and tell him to get rid the way he is facing and he is perfectly serviceable. Turn him, and he is a bombscare.

Similar to Leicester, their game plan was to sit deep and then spring Vardy on the counter.

He's not the vidic / Ferdinand regen man united hoped he was.

If said country is successful and you play a part in that it is an indication that you’re better than many make him out to be. Not world class but a perfectly decent PL player.

on paper.

signing Collins last year was labelled outstanding business
As someone who thought signing Collins was great business, I'm going to wait and see him play first before saying this is a brillaint decision!

See all the debate above about his use.

Just think of elvedi as replacing coady and then the benchmark is probably a bit lower.

Rumours that Sarkic has failed his medical at Stoke

Percy/Mike McGrath:

Stoke are trying a deal for Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers, with the Matija Sarkic move from #Wolves falling through - fee agreed last week but now not happening. Travers was also wanted by #Millwall. Story with @JPercyTelegraph #SCFC #AFCB @TeleFootball

That's a shame for the lad. Genuinely seems like he wants to play, rather than sit on his arse as a back-up.

Wonder what we'll do with the keepers now Roberts is stuck with more than he wants.

Sarkic will probably still get a move. More likely to be a loan one though. If not he is kicking his heels for at least 6 months before heading off.

Seems it's Stoke's call, either couldn't agree terms at the end or someone else became available and they decided he was better. He passed his medical.

Do players not go through medicals for loans, then?
