It's such a weird signing, but I guess it tallies with all the talk about buying players for less!

They've looked at Dawson as a cheap older signing and thought, yep we'll repeat that with Doherty. Wouldn't surprise me to see a couple more older, cheaper underwhleming players come in as well.

Interesting development on the Alex Scott interest coming out of Bristol.

Apparently we bid £18m for him last week and had it rejected. We're not willing to go any higher. Bournemouth then came along this week and offered £15m (presumably they weren't aware of what we'd already offered so that got swiftly knocked back too).

Always thought Scott was a long shot. Way too hyped up now, Bristol will want £20M+

Hopefully we have another player of a similar profile lined up.
