This isn't necessarily a defense of Doherty, just saying that the wheels fell off for a lot of players at that time.

They did. But he had a very specific role designed for him, once it was sussed he offered absolutely nothing else. And he never would.

As for assists, he's worse at crossing than Mark Rankine was.

Just trawled through the last 3 or 4 pages of this thread, and it's frankly pathetic the childish handwringing and revisionism I'm reading.

Now to clarify, I don't think Doc would be a good signing, but so many of you talk as though he's one of the worst footballers ever to wear a shirt for Wolves, yet he was an integral part of a squad that were the best I've seen in my lifetime.
