The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

Gammon, eggs, chips and peas. I won't say what condiments...

But now I really want a chicken shish from Sajaan's in Fallowfield. Bin too long.

Billy, that gammon was screaming ketchup !

Well Sue, since you asked: salt and vinegar all over the chips, a sprinkle of black pepper over the yolks of the eggs, mayo all over the chips and peas, HP on top of the mayo and English mustard on top of that.
And a pint of Old Nutty Hen on the side...

:icon_lol: No pineapple ?

Haven't had gammon in yonks.

Can you still get the Tomato Sausages over there ?

The farm shop near my Dad's sells all kinds. Black pudding, tomato, leek, loads more. Brilliant stuff. Again, none of them need sauce slathering all over them.

I used to love tomato ones, dont seem to see them like you used to. Black pudding needs brown sauce. Leek sausages need apple sauce.

However, I rarely go to a chippy. In the midlands, most are awful imo. The newbridge, & there's one in cheslyn hay which is great (both do lovely battered chips).
Too many places do shit chips, dry manky fish, & the only thing to attract you is the smell. The idea is better than the actual experience.

That's how I feel about Indian food up here. There's probably one or two places in Scotland for a good curry but I haven't found them yet. Most don't hold a candle to even an average West Midlands curry house.

There are some great chippies though. There are a couple near me who get their fish from Pittenweem and it's absolutely lush. Brilliant Langoustine and Lobster as well. There's one in Fife called Anstruther Fish Bar which is quite a long way from me but IMO one of the best chippies in Britain.

Bacon and tomato splash sarnie with a mug of tea.

Mmmmm. Perfect Sunday morning breakfast.

Boiled eggs and soldiers with a mug of tea :)

Good god is it even 6am there?!!

It is precisely 5.29.Got to eat brekky early as going on a bike ride at 8 , if I eat any later i'll be throwing up by the time I get to the top of the first hill .

Last night was an indian takeaway and it was bloody lovely. It's also amusing to watch our daughter devour bombay potatoes. She loves them!

Fried bread with beans and a fried egg on top this morning.

Fried bread = naughty but nice .

Nice shoulder of pork today. Looking forward to getting some bostin crackling off it as well.

Just finished a beautiful bit of Wiltshire gammon (food miles - 10) with roast potatoes from the garden (food miles - 20 yards) + various veg.

Annoyingly just got the washing up to deal with now :icon_sad:

I have been told to wash up as I go along today.

Possibly, this may have been something to do with the kitchen looking like Beirut when I finished the roast last week....

I know todays dinner will earn me a few brownie points. Mr Penguins favourite.

Roast beef, homemade horseradish sauce, roast tatas, broccoli, green beans, roasted butternut squash, carrots, gravy. Blueberry crumble & Custard.

As I live on my own there's no one to tell me to do anything, so could just shut the door & leave it & go and have another :drink2:

Then again there's no one else who's going to do it, so have forced myself to deal with it & am now having the :drink2: with a tidy kitchen
