I think there is an angle that PGMOL could do more to protect officials. Such as consistently booking players who surround refs, getting in the refs face etc. Hopefully this would drive behaviours from the top down the leagues.
I'd just go down the rugby route, only the captain gets to speak to the ref, and he can't be a dick when he does.

Anyone else, you're straight in the book, no questions. If that happens to be your second yellow then tough.

Yeah, I agree with that. The answer is staring them in the face, but for some reason they don't.

It's mad because I reckon 90% of the fans would be fully on board with it. Appreciate it'd be difficult having wildly different interpretations across leagues and Europe etc, but I'm sure it was mooted or even announced about 10-15 years ago

I remember 20 years ago that kicking the ball away was an automatic yellow. Great stuff, it's knobhead behaviour, just cut it straight out. But it seems to have lapsed and you get away with it now unless you lamp it 70 yards.

I'd also love to see shithawks like Rodri and Fabinho punished consistently for their continual cynical fouling. It's not being "clever", it's cheating.

Get time management off the refs FFS.

Punish obvious time wasting properly, why indulge teams when they do it, why book a keeper in the 90th minute when he's been doing it since they went 1-0 up an hour ago?

There seems to be so little common sense applied and so often you watch a ref and just think that he's someone that obviously doesn't understand football. But put the correct kit on, so a tick there.

Be more thorough with retrospective stuff. It's not 1993, every single game has broadcast level coverage whether it's actually on UK TV or not.

So when that ratfaced wanker Fernandes pretends he was hit in the face but he obviously wasn't (and the whole world can see that), well I'm sorry my rodent friend, you're banned from the next game. Won't do it again, will you?

Yeah retrospective punishment for simulation like that, I think every fan and manager would get behind, I hate it. And we'll on board with micing the refs up too. Basically just any sensible measures to stop footballers acting like cunts. Because they're amazing at football they get treated like kings from the age of ten, and it proper shows in how entitled a lot of them act on the pitch. God only knows what they're like in the real world

Parking Mitrovic which is beyond normal levels of abuse in the professional game I reckon the refs would oppose microphones because it would stop players acting like cunts but it would also expose referees acting like cunts too, for example Jarred Gillet applying a rule that hasn't been applied before or after his application of it.

Referees at grass roots level need protections, that begins with greater transparency and accountability from the professionals. While they continue to dodge that at every opportunity change in wider refereeing will be glacial.

Repeated high force contacts, usually seen in rugby or American Football according to the BBC

The number of people in that Twitter thread blaming the vaccine fffffssssss

If someone got hit by a bus and died you would get people on Twitter saying its because they were vaccinated.

Can't read Twitter threads when someone has died, tributes buried underneath "they were jabbed...own fault"

Same as when Lisa Marie Presley died in January, must be the vaccine despite it being a hereditary condition that also killed her father when he was younger than L-M and also her grandmother in the 1970s and 1950s respectively. Then Paul O'Grady last week, must be the vaccine despite the fact that his heart condition almost killed him many years ago. The anti-vaxxers are always ready to jump on these things even when they don't know whether said person has even had the vaccine!

I've got an acquaintance (not really a mate but we used to work together years ago, we were into a lot of the same music, kept in touch) who has gone full anti-vax, WEF conspiracy, World Government, 15 minute cities are prisons off the scale hatstand. Pretty sad to see. Absolutely no point arguing so I essentially don't talk to her any more and nor does anyone else vaguely normal - just a very small circle of absolute weirdos who enable it.

I had an old school friend who was exactly the same, filled Facebook with all the same shit about the phone masts spreading Covid, not trusting the vaccine as we didn't know what was going into our bodies (despite him always vaping), the new world order being created under the guise of the Pandemic, every footballer who collapsed was due to the vaccine and so on.

He doesn't post any of it anymore as he died in hospital in January 2021 aged 51 of Covid

Acquaintances, old school friends... my family think these sort of things! My mum got Covid and was very fortunate to survive, was in ICU for a rather long time and was seriously unwell. Still didn't want to be vaccinated. Facebook really does rot out some people's brains.

When you're deep in the conspiracy they will try and link literally anything to it. People did the same with Eriksen and he wasn't even vaccinated was he?
