They’ll get away with again like they did the UEFA one I’m sure.
Not that I expect much to happen but the UEFA one was down to the appeal at the CAS and they found that the period UEFA banned and fined them for was time barred. In the end they just got the fine for obstructing the investigation.
UEFA had banned them from Europe for 2 year and fined them £30m. Ended up with just the £10m fine

PL has no time barring rules, so the City lawyers are going to have to work hard on this one before the club get away with probably a large fine.

If a paltry fine is applied this will continue or clubs will ignore the consequences and spend like Chelsea have done the last two windows. They only way to stop it is to remove titles won during the period of offence, relegate them and apply transfer embargos. Given previous failures to implement penalties themselves or by other governing bodies, surely the PL would have got the ability to apply any such measures watertight.
It may hasten their [Man City's] desire to set up a Super League but what's the alternative? Let the Big 6 continue to ride roughshod over the rest of football?

Points deduction will be a minimal sanction, if found guilty. Demotion is also on the cards but unlikely.
If they’ve wilfully misled authorities then they’re in deep shit.
PL has to be seen to be doing something proactive. Financial sanctions won’t cut it.
City attitude has been fuck you we’ll find a loophole and if not we can afford the best team of solicitors to fuck you over.

I can't imagine a points deduction. Just imagine the fallout if it's deemed so serious - you'd end up with clubs that were relegated during those periods arguing that if City's squad was 'legal' then relegation wouldn't have happened, possibly titles being questioned, there'd be all sorts of ramifications. It's not in the PL's interest for this to be nuclear

Not it is the threat of independent regulators etc plus a set of bigger clubs in their house wanting serious action makes their position very hard. Fines will just be seen as weak and pretty say do what you want for 10 years and you’ll just get your pocket money taken away.

I'd love to see them relegated, but it would more likely be something like a 10pt deduction at most, which would probably still see them in the CL next season and, since they're not looking like winning the league this season anyway, have no real impact whatsoever while still looking harsher than a fine. Either that or some sort of transfer embargo, which, with their squad, would be similarly ineffectual.

It won't be this season. It'll probably be with lawyers for at least 18 months

Kind of thought he’d photoshopped the anti-cardigan rhetoric himself…

Hate speech innit 😉

Posting the image not the link is poor form imo

The prospective new Sheff Utd owner seems good:

The Nigerian ‘billionaire’ linked with a £90million takeover of Championship club Sheffield United is the director of an airline company — but there is no evidence a Tingo Airlines flight has ever taken place, report Joey D’Urso and Matt Slater.

In November 2020, a post on Dozy Mmobuosi’s personal Facebook page said “fly with Tingo Airlines today” and described routes between London and west Africa.

The company is registered in England as Tingo Airlines Limited and declared a share capital of £1billion in August 2019, with Mr Mmobuosi the sole shareholder.

It is registered at an address in Harpenden in Hertfordshire — but the address was removed in December 2019 with a note saying it was “invalid or ineffective and was forged”.

Tingo Airlines Limited is also facing an active proposal to be struck off at Companies House, the UK’s registrar of companies, as it is nearly three months late with filing basic paperwork.

An Instagram page for Tingo Airlines links to a website that does not exist. It also shares images of an Airbus A321 that appears to be digitally doctored to apply the ‘Tingo Airlines’ livery, removing a door and adding too many windows in the process.

In an interview with Vanguard Nigeria in November 2019, Omiete Iyenemi Charles, described as acting CEO of Tingo Airlines, said the company is “in the process of obtaining our UK Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC)” but there is no evidence of Tingo having an AOC.

Justin Williams, chief operating officer of InsightX, a due diligence and reputational risk agency that has worked with 10 Premier League clubs, said: “The issues raised in relation to Tingo and Mr Mmobuosi by The Athletic demonstrate how important it is that football clubs commission in-depth intelligence and due diligence on all potential investors, partners and sponsors.”

Mmobuosi’s bid for Sheffield United is being assessed by the English Football League, which applies its owners’ and directors’ test to all potential investors. The EFL will be seeking answers to questions about the source and sufficiency of the Nigerian’s funds.

Mmobousi and Tingo have not responded to requests for comment. Sheffield United declined to comment.
