My point is that there’s no global standard right now to pick an objectively “correct” time of year.

I’m in no matter when it’s held, at the end of the day.

There's 92 years of precedent to say there is

I don’t understand this argument.

There’s been precedent for a lot of crap over human history.

I’ve no issue with summer Cups, nor winter. But don’t pretend one is objectively superior.

EDIT: “don’t pretend” reads way more dickish than I intended, apologies there.

I disagree the objectively superior time of year to play it is at the time that disrupts European leagues least and that's the Summer. 10 of the US team that started v England play in Europe as do all 11 of the team Morrocco sent out in the semi final so is in the interests of their players not having to squeeze a season into a months less time as much as anybody else

The shoehorning part though has hopefully come with a benefit for us.

Good of FIFA to realise we would need this help when they took huge bribes to get this World Cup on
I'm not so sure it has.

Lage wouldn't have lasted as long if we didn't know there was a break coming up and we could hope to limp along to then and hope he somehow learned how to manage a team. We also would not have left a League Two caretaker in charge for seven games.

Giving Jeff waaaaaay too much credit there. Lage would have gone at the same time regardless of a break or with no break, games are spread out a little bit more and he remains in charge longer.

The rest is because of the break we didn't then go all Moxey and start offering it around to everyone after Beale said no. No break and a panic and we 100% looking at a Dyche or Big Sam to come in.

In a normal season we have 3 points from 5 games (and 0 wins, and 2 goals) then there's an international break, I think he goes then.

As it is I think they (in their deluded way) thought "it's only two months, he's had a couple of decent runs before, we can always change it then".

Boxing Day is normally the 19th game, so we'd have played 21 games before we could sign anyone new rather than 18 which gives us something of an advantage over a normal season. Lage went when the fans turned, unless they'd turned quicker (they should have) then I don't think he'd have gone any sooner.

Edit Jeff is pretty weak thinking about it as he binned Sellars after the fans turned, the Dr for the same reason, even conjecture that Nuno was as a result of his (incorrect imv) reading of SM

I would have been amazed if that had happened off the back of the late summer transfer activity unless we had been royally dicked in all 5 games

Either way, the break *should* help us out. JL having 4 weeks with the majority of the squad before a ball is kicked should be an advantage to us.

Time for me to fire up my "sell Guedes for £15m to any Spanish team" Twitter campaign.

La Liga. The place where Wolves strikers go after they've failed in the PL. (well, Mir and Jose any way).

This is a fair point I hadn't considered.

Sinisa Mihajlovic has died aged 53. Brilliant player, not such a brilliant person.

A league match between Melbourne city and Melbourne Victory called off after a spectator got on the pitch and hit the goalkeeper of City in the face with a metal bucket!

Separate matter....anyone heard from leedswolf?

Apparently fans of both Melbourne sides were planning a protest against Sydney being awarded the finals series and shit got waaaaaay out of hand. Massive sanctions have to happen.

Just wondering how and why someone would take a metal bucket into a football ground.
