Collymore saying Wyness was trying to get a consortium together behind Xia's back to buy the club, he found out and binned him.

If they are in enough trouble that HMRC are issuing a winding up order then he has a duty as a director to try and solve the problem before it's too late. An offer of a new owner willing to save the day being one if the options to be explored.

Yes that's how I saw it, Collymore choosing the going behind the boss' back route though

I always found it staggering that Villa fans took to the man. He's a serious oddball with nothing to back him up. They actually relished him behaving the way he did on Twitter. So incredibly weird on all levels.

By all accounts Xia has had to take out a loan to pay HMRC bill, apparently according to some reliable journos their financial situation is in a serious situation.

They'll be able to borrow because they know they can bank on a substantial incoming payment coming soon for Grealish.

However said incoming payment is now no longer as large as it might have been thought to be a week ago. Everyone knows now, they're in huge trouble. Figures of £40m were laughable in the first place but they'll be lucky to get half that now. Sell him off ASAP to get cash in, pay that loan off and erm....I don't know what they do from there.

As I say, this is way more serious than I thought it would be and I've been casting doubt on Xia since day one, and also predicting doom for them if they failed to go up.

Yep pretty much was a case risk everything to get up this year. Almost certain now they’ll need a fire sale and players bought in will either be on a free or very generous loan deals.
Biggest problem they have is a lot of the older players have little sell on value. Almost certain they’ll have to accept a loss on Hourihane, Hogan, Lansbury and Kodjia.

Losses and continued wage support as nobody will touch the likes of Lansbury on 40k.

Yep, the joy being shown at this is pretty bizarre.

What, so we don't want Aston Villa to exist now? Is that where we're at?

We put up with a season of their dickhead fans plus owner, CEO and manager accusing us of FFP and financial irregulations and cheating. They acted the billy big bollocks when they won their cup final against us and now, it appears that it was they who weren't squeaky clean so yeah, I'm loving what is happening to them. HOWEVER, nowhere on here have I seen any of us hoping they would cease to exist. Were Darlington the last club to be allowed to go bust? There is no way Villa will go that way as there will always be a buyer for such a large club with such a great history. Maybe a reality check for their fans and a kick up the arse for the club, including a trip to League One, will take them down a peg or two and then they can be "reborn" to what they want.

I used to really like Villa and have a large number of family who support them but they were as bad with the lack of understanding of what was happening at Wolves, even when it was explained to them, so I will sit here and have a good old chuckle at their situation as they did when we suffered our double relegation. Karma's a bitch

Maidstone were the last league club to go under. Countless ex league clubs and none league clubs who over extended themselves due to owners losing interest have gone bust and had to come back the AFC route.

I meant League club to go bust...Plenty of non league clubs have had to reform, as did Wimbledon but most league clubs manage to find someone to keep them afloat while the league dock points off them and put more pressure on them. Coventry, Leeds, Blackpool and Portsmouth were all in a worse position than Villa find themselves in and kept going while the FA shit on Darlo from a great height

Maidstone went bust in 1992, Darlo in 2011/12

I wouldn't mind them having a season down in League 1, and for their fans to learn a bit of humility, but don't want any serious long term ramifications for them. Won't stop me winding up Villa friends though.
I remember when they had a season in the old Division 3. Arrogant then. Arrogant now. I wouldn't be upset if they went down.

Darlo weren't a league club when they folded

Villa Talk seem to think Grealish to Spurs for £15/20m is a done deal

But I thought they were getting £40m :)

Grealish getting sold for less than we bought Neves for would be some delicious irony.

I was referring to social media; there are people with very short memories on there.

I agree, it's all deliciously ironic after their accusations a couple of months ago. Maybe a nice little sojourn to League One would bring their fans down a peg or two.
