The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

Yep, the joy being shown at this is pretty bizarre.

What, so we don't want Aston Villa to exist now? Is that where we're at?
The joy will be down to the all the accusations they threw at us this season.

I'd quite enjoy seeing them stuck in the championship for a few years to bring them down a peg or two but hopefully they can get themselves sorted out eventually.

After all the shit I want them to suffer, but not to this extent. This looks absolutely horrific for them and there are many many decent Villa fans that are potentially going to get dreadful news after dreadful news.

I thought the bet the farm was going to consign them to championship mediocrity for ages, but this is going out of business serious.

It's chickens coming home to roost for three extremely dislikeable characters in Xia, Wyness and Bruce. They deserve to be shown up for the absolute charlatans that they are. Let's not forget that they've been chipping away at our football club all year when we've done nothing wrong.

So I won't apologise for being happy that they're rapidly being made to look like absolute chumps. Awful people.

However I don't want Villa to disappear and in time I hope they recover to a point, I don't hate Villa.

John Percy says Trevor Birch is working with them now. That's Trevor Birch who specialises in dealing with insolvent clubs.

I mean he's good at what he does. But that's a big red flag.

Not doubting you for a minute sir, but how on earth could a club like Aston Villa be in such a mess.?

I'm in the minority here but I don't want Villa to fall like we did through the divisions as I still like the club as a whole. Barring the utter morons who run the club I think there's a decent fanbase. They seem to have just the Chinese Bahtti's.

Blouse on the other hand I could happily watch fall into obscurity.

Completely agree.

I didn't want them to go up because of the behaviour of their management team but I certainly don't want them to be permanently fucked as a result.

Blues and Bolton can go to hell though.

Look at the raw sums - Terry £60k a week, Snodgrass £60k a week, McCormack £50k a week, Richards £45k a week, Agbonlahor £55k a week, there'll be plenty of others on daft money too and we haven't even looked at fees yet - none of it ever added up. It was all a case of throwing everything at it for two years and hoping it all worked out. Insanity.

The fake Doctor had absolutely zero profile before he took Villa over, on day one a load of the claims about him (Professor at Harvard, designed/built the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium) were debunked, he's always had the air of a conman and as I mentioned earlier, there were links to Chris Samuelson who has always been bad news.

They bet everything on red. The figures were totally unsustainable if they failed. They failed.

I wouldn't mind them having a season down in League 1, and for their fans to learn a bit of humility, but don't want any serious long term ramifications for them. Won't stop me winding up Villa friends though.

This is Portsmouth mark II, BUT with a much bigger club crashing and burning. I think they are certainties for relegation next season and then it is a case of when they can get a couple of fingernails to grip on the cliff face.

They'll be plenty of investors out there who would look at the club with its infrastructure and fan base and decide that it could well be a very good investment. They may want it to fall into administration first before picking up the pieces.

Crikey! Weren't Cambridge Utd the last team to go from play off to relegated in one season?

Can a mod with the appropriate access rights put all this into a Villa in trouble thread?

The next few days may be very interesting.

From what I have read, some of the problems seem to be down to the Chinese government restricting Dr Tony from taking his money out of the country. Is this something that could affect us at some point?

Nope as Fosun have businesses all over the world.

Plus Guo is well tight with the Government like.

Plus Fosun have a bucket load of cash. Fake Tony clearly doesn't. Money buys influence.

I had a Villa mate ring me on the 93rd minute to sing ‘4-1 on your big day out’ down the phone whilst still in the ground, about sums up the majority of their fan base.

I don’t want them to go out of business, which they won’t as someone will buy them or the Australian Bank will have a second charge over them, but I’m happy to see that big chip smashed off their shoulder.

Can’t see Bruce hanging around with this turmoil either.

We will be the top club in the West Midlands next season for the first time in 39 years. As for Villa, their fans have lacked humility, class and self awareness throughout my life, $#@! them and $#@! their need to rebuild.

Posted this after the plays offs, it's still how I feel, although I wouldn't ever want to see any club go bust.

What Tony said in both comments above. Having lived most of my life in a town where Villa fans are in the majority I'm finding it all most amusing.

Wyness was spinning the yarn that they could have got Robin van Persie in the January transfer window but walked away from the deal on footballing issues alone when explaining that they had money to spend. I'd be looking very closely at all of his actions over the last few months as should they go into administration his role in its demise will be looked at very closely.
