I dunno. I like the idea. Seems a better way of doing it to me.

Is there anything particularly wrong with the current format?

Well, it's all explained in the article. The new system allows each team to score two and go back ahead rather than always playing catchup.

I dunno. Seems like an idea worth testing to me.

Bit of a problem for Red Bull (the heart bleeds for them, they're so good for football); Salzburg and Leipzig are both going to qualify for the Champions League. But Leipzig - who clearly have priority within the group now - will almost certainly end up finishing lower in their respective league table and so under UEFA rules which prohibit clubs under the same ownership from participating in the same competition, they'll be the ones to miss out.

Not sure if they'll get demoted to the Europa League or just flat out banned from European competition (in fact they probably will have to be blocked because Salzburg could get to the group stage, finish 3rd and drop into the EL...whereby you have the same problem should Leipzig qualify from their EL group)

Don't give two fucks about Red Bull but that seems an awfully shit deal for Leipzig's players.

A sad day as my Scottish team Raith Rovers lost 4-3 on penalties to Brechin to be relegated from the Scottish Championship to the Scottish League One. They dominated the game having 20 shots to Brechins 6 but could only draw 3-3 after extra time. Ah well, at least if they can keep the team together they will have a chance of an immediate return to the Championship but I'm not over confident...

Stenhousemuir sadly went down this season as well

Gutter for our Scottish second loves.

All down to the final day for HSV. If they beat Wolfsburg at home next week then they stay up. Anything else and they finish 16th and it's the playoff yet again (will be Braunschweig or Hannover I'd think).

Ingolstadt are definitely down automatically after today's results.

Make them play off!

Chelsea's ngolo Kante retains the premiership. 2 clubs, 2 seasons, 2 winners medals. How vital was he to both teams? Absolutely integral

Kante is a ridiculous player. In his brief appearance at Molineux I have never seen a player cover so much ground.

He has been a massive loss to Leicester City this season. They have not come close to replacing him.

We would have thought spending uber millions over the last 2 windows would come back to bite them on the arse.
