The Film Thread

Seriously??

The clue is that Leah Teabing is an anagram of those he ripped off in the Da Vinci Code. There was a massive court case about it. Unbelievably Brown won, but god knows how.

Didn't know that. The Holy Blood, Holy Grail writer?

That's my ignorance, I didn't know the authors. Wasn't there a book on the Templars he referenced quite heavily too?

Yes. He claimed it was "referencing" and that the name was an "homage". Frankly amazed he got away with it, but his lawyers would have been rather more heavyweight than Baigent could have afforded.

Bachelorette

A very solid entry for quite possibly the worst fucking film of all time. Absolute cack. A fucking catastrophe. Really a crime.

Just back from seeing La La Land. I'm not a big fan of musicals but it was great. Looked stunning, excellent performances from the leads and really good music. Bit of a basic plot but all very heartwarming.

I feel I've been in La La land since Saturday's result. :)

There was some mention of Danny Boyle a few pages back and trainspotting, which is truly awesome by the way.

Boyle also did a film a really weird one where a guy turns I to a fly after meeting god..ring any bells? Anyway it's completely bonkers but I quite enjoyed it.

Not seen Trainspotting 2 yet but will definitely do so.

Yes sir you are correct it's utterly bonkers but strangely entertaining. Thanks for reminding me memory not so good haha.

Acid House wasn't Boyle directing. Think he did a life less ordinary next, then the beach.
IIRC Welsh wrote the screenplay himself for the acid house. It was made on the coat-tails of trainspotting.

The Acid House was Paul McGuigan

ps. I looked it up on IMDB, don't under any circumstances think I'm intelligent :)

Finally got round to watching Hacksaw Ridge. Langers was right.Fantastic film.Emotional, and powerful.

Absolutely Fabulous- The Movie. Absolutely shit. What on earth were they thinking.

What on earth were YOU thinking?!!

I watched the Witch last night, it got really good reviews from critics but it was fucking awful

Has anyone seen The Babadook ? Directed by Jennifer Kent, it wasn't what I was expecting from a psychological horror, which is the type I prefer, but it's a clever and brilliant film for several different reasons that I can't go into without spoiling it for those who might want to see it.

Great performance by Essie Davis.
