The Film Thread

Watched Castaway with Tom Hanks - was Ok, but wouldn't want to see more than once

I watched 'Legend' this evening. Very good film which I thoroughly enjoyed. The 2 Tom Hardys were excellent.

Legend was a great film because of Tom Hardy, his performances take the attention from what was a very watered-down story in my opinion. Could have been so much more.

Watched Black Mass last night, some very good performances. A slow movie in its own right but intriguing at the same time. And Johnny Depp was excellent, I like him in all the stuff I've seen him in but he's completely different here and it was refreshing to watch. Top stuff.

The 2006 film Running Scared. A bit depressing and sick in places, but with a twist at the end. I like a good twist.

Went to see Deadpool and thought it was very funny, crude and in places like listening to the profanasaurus being read out loud, or DW's latest review of Matt Doherty.

Not sure how he fits in with the X-Men or Marvel universe as I'm not sure how Captain America would react to bring called a cockpocket.

If you like that sense of humour and general self-deprecating style of humour you'll love it, if not then don't bother.

Deadpool is often out of position and let's wingers cross with ease?

Only slightly bluer than that. For example.

' That cockthistling wankspangle let the opponent run at him and went through him quicker than a 70's TV star in a BBC green room.'

Saw Deadpool last week and loved it...I laughed from start to finish! Guess I've got a warped sense of humor

You don't say.

Without spoilers, those viewers of around 35+ will find more jokes than younger viewers I would guess. I was like you Mike, laughed from the opening credits through to the end.

Yep...Definitely "adult" comedy/smut/innuendo ;)

The Longest Ride. Originally a book by Nic Sparks. More for the ladies but tell your partners not to bother with either as both are utter shite.

A thumbs up for The Intern. Not particularly for the storyline but for Robert De Niro. He plays a retired bored 70 year old widower, who just happens to be kind, helpful, attractive, appealing, and wanting a job.Have to say that De Niro is my all time fav actor. Ths man oozes charisma and charm :) He also wears a suit and tie really well. What's not to like!!

Very bizarre. ITV are showing Live and Let Die, now, but despite it being past midnight (started just after eleven) are showing a censored version..?

I don't think they can help it. They still cut films to get all the adverts in.

What Ian Fleming wrote in the mid 1950's wouldn't be acceptable today. There was a chapter in the book called Nigger Heaven in which he wrote with a Black Caribbean accent, probably didn't survive the cut when it was filmed in the early seventies.
