The Film Thread

Saw Room at the weekend.

Not one to watch if you're massively hungover. The kid was superb though.

Sicario. Bloody loved this one.

yeah, great film. bridge of spies good too, though had to have their annoying Hollywood moments.

the mrs liked both too, though got annoyed with the female cop in sicario.

Why annoyed with the female cop? The bit that annoyed me was when she stupidly took the baddie bloke back after meeting him in the bar. She should have known better. Other than that, I think she did ok.

Black Mass. Violent, and lots of use of the f word but I was engrossed all the way through this one. Johnny Depp is excellent portraying just what a nasty piece of work James Whitey Bulger really was.

Schindler's List

I hadn't seen it all the way through before, so I thought I should. What a magnificent piece of cinema, topped off by fantastic performances from Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. Not something I would ever want to watch again as it's so harrowing, but I think it's something everyone should see once.

I haven't seen Schindler's List for years but I'd love to see it again. Ralph Fiennes is such a good actor.

That's the best I've seen him without a doubt. A mammoth performance.

The Revenant

Really enjoyed it - particularly the spectacular cinematography. I actually felt quite cold whilst watching it! Di Caprio and Hardy are both brilliant - I do hope LDC finally gets his Oscar for this, it'd be well deserved.

The ending was very predictable but it didn't take the shine off the whole thing - well worth a look.

I might watch something a bit more light-hearted next.

InBetweeners 2?

Inspired by the talk on the B&W movie thread, I rewatched 12 Angry Men the other night. Such a brilliant film. It's a bit stagey and some of the dialogue's a bit clunky but to do so much with what's basically 12 men sitting in a room for 90 minutes is amazing. And would come quite high in a Sweatiest Movie Ever poll. (Far behind outright winner Cool Hand Luke, of course.)

Don't mention 12 Angry Men, Lemonjelly will be giving me grief as I haven't got round to watching it yet!

I used to have Netflix but cancelled it a while back. I do intend to watch it, it'll just take me a while!

Been on a Harry Potterathon all day courtesy of my Grandaughters, waiting for the eldest to say, 'Grandad stop getting Potter wrong'.

I love Harry Potter. In continuing the Ralph Fiennes love in, he is magnificent as Voldemort.
