The Film Thread

The trailer for Dumb and Dumber.... remade to look like an Oscar winning film

The Revenant. Really good - a proper man movie with lots of beards, bears and bastards. Dialogue is mostly just Leo grunting as he crawls around in the snow but it looks stunning. Definitely one to see in the cinema. Some of the things they survive though are a bit unrealistic which does spoil it a bit.

Watched that yesterday and I'd agree that it's visually wonderful and with a good soundtrack too but I did find it pretty ponderous and it was painfully obvious what was going to happen at the end well before we got there too.

I don't think it was one for plot development to be fair, its a fairly well known story in America I'm lead to believe, although the ending is different.

I felt it was more about taking you along on his journey. I thought it was quite good, DiCaprio really is proving himself a great actor, I couldn't stick him when he first came out but I really like his films now

He is surprisingly good in most things now. Wolf of Wall Street was brilliant.

I can't think of a bad performance from him to be honest, things like Titanic and R&J from his early career excepted because I can't really remember anything of the sections I've had forced upon me.

Sky Movies Comedy are showing Groundhog Day 13 times in a row tomorrow :icon_lol:

'Catch me if you can' was when I realised just how much of a bloody good actor he had turned into, cracking film.

agreed Wolf on Wall st was superb too, my dislike of him was from when he first came through.

Titanic is one of the worst films ever committed to celluloid. Terrible performances from nearly everybody.

Ant Man - I really enjoyed it. I haven't seen all the recent glut of Marvel films as I think there's been too many TBH, but I really liked this one, weird as it was to see Bobby Newport from Parks and Rec as a superhero!

Just a fun 2 hours which is what you want from these kind of films.

So the Dad's Army film is shit then. Who on earth could have predicted that?

Another good film starring Tom Hanks, Bridge Of Spies.

American Ultra. Use the one hour and 39 minutes doing or watching something much more worth while than this.

Or just watch the TV series Chuck which is miles better.

Indeed. It has the absolutely gorgeous Yvonne Strahovski.
