The F1 Thread

Just planning on watching the re-run on sky and then they start giving me the result!!! Fucking numpties!! Are they stupid?

It just isn't the same on a stream. Damn you Murdoch.

Good race though, Lewis is being a bit more clever which will do him go this season. Alonso won't be that lucky again this year, the car still is fundamentally bad. Well done to Perez on a good drive. Really disappointed with his mistake though.

Once again the Malaysian Grand Prix is a farce. It should be removed from the calendar, but I assume Bernie makes too much money from it.

Should have had a lie-in and watched it on the Beeb. mate. I was so annoyed when they (BBC) sold us non-Murdoch contributors down the river, but apart from not being able to listen to the news, I can't say I've noticed any appreciable drawback to these first two being shown as highlights (and not having to wait for the rain to stop was actually a plus).

Question on Lewis. Is he struggling to get the full pace of his car or is he driving a bit more careful and building points up rather than pushing and risking those points?

My personal opinion is that he went as fast as he could today, for sure he would have been chasing down Perez if it was possible, for some reason he just didn't have the pace of qualifying. Once again though he was a bit unlucky with the conditions, the red flag and an unfortunate pit stop but he will be happy with a solid 3rd place finish and ahead of all of his realistic title rivals. Alonso and Perez were both excellent today but they won't be up there consistently. A good race but whats the point in racing somewhere where a monsoon is more than likely?

Don't forget Singapore is less than 100 miles away (ish) and there isn't a monsoon for that race. The reason - it starts at 9pm local time. The start time in Sepang is just when the downpours bubble up virtually every day, same as they do in Singapore.

Monsoon adds to the fun and games.

I don't mind wet races, in fact changeable conditions make for good races but having a race at a time of day when you know it is very likely to rain enough to need to red flag the race is just stupid.

Lots of rumours of Perez to Ferrari sooner rather than later after yesterday, think he's better off in a Sauber atm although he'd be an improvement on Massa who's pretty terrible right now.

Changeable conditions are part of the reason why Belgium is the best track in F1.

Also, the best drive I ever saw was by Senna at Donington in conditions that were just as bad as yesterday.

Very good by Senna to get 6th from 24th.

Williams looking a lot better this year.

Alonso is a prat who also happens to be the most able driver in F1 at the moment. Unbelievable drive.

He's just a dickhead who thinks he's better than everyone else. That he's quite possibly right doesn't change the fact he's a dickhead. (See also M. Schumacher, 2000–2004.)

With the Trulli train no longer with us, it appears Nico has pioneered the Rosberg roadblock.

They're changing Hamilton's gear box on Saturday so 5 place grid penalty for him.

I can't help but feel sorry for the driver in that situation but I suppose it's the only effective punishment as fines wouldn't affect a team like Mclaren.

Good opportunity for Jenson this weekend then. Needs to make it count.

Maybe they should deduct constructor points? Not really fair to punish the driver for a mechanical fault on the car.

It should be the same as the engine ruling, you have a designated number and if you exceed that you get penalised.
