The F1 Thread

Vettel will be taking a 10 place grid penalty on Sunday. Little prerace boost for Hamiltons hopes of wrapping up tbe title.

Race should be interesting as well as rain is predicted for the weekend in Texas.

Could be another wash out for P1 & P2 with Rain and thunder set to stick with Texas for the day.

Big storm between Houston and Austin on the weather radar at the moment and another is brewing around San Antonio and heading in the direction of the track.

Looks like FP2 is a complete write off. Biblical stuff.

Jolyon Palmer confirmed at Lotus next season.

Qualifying in doubt due to heavy rain. 2 Options open to sort it - Leave it until tomorrow morning (heavy rain due in the morning but should slow down/clear in time for the race though) or use the times from P3.

If they go with P3 times, Lewis will be on Pole, Vettel was 2nd but would drop to 12th putting Nico 3rd....shame for Rosberg that the Nico would be Hulkenburg. T'other Nico would be 9th.

My God it is teeming down! I can't see any way they can start qualifying in that.

This is never going to get going. Tomorrow morning I reckon now, which is annoying as I'll be in London and not able to watch it.

Respect to the nutters sitting around the track in the shocking weather.

Still hoping for it to happen. Might as well have a go in hovercraft. No way you are getting a car out there at the moment. It would be lethal.

Some ace nobbing around in the pit lane.

Getting Sainz strapped into his car. Are they seriously going to try this? Really bad idea. Someone could get killed on that lake of a track.

AHHHH - it was his dad!

Maybe they should get some rowing boats and see who can row round the circuit in the quickest time...

Charlie the race boss says he will not call it a day and will wait another 2 hours before giving in.

Without a Moses type asking for a parting of the waters that promises to be a fruitless wait.

Further delay until 9pm our time. Bonkers. There is no chance this will be driveable this side of sunset stateside.

If the cars are allowed out in such appalling conditions, then you have a serious incident waiting to happen. Jules Bianchi suffered what proved to be a fatal accident last year in conditions that were not as bad as this.
