I left Best out for the same reason as I left Moore out. Even though they retired after I was born, I was only three when Moore jacked it in, and I never saw Best in his pomp at all. To be honest I don't remember watching him play as a tot. So it seemed unfair to put him in.

Fair comment, though I have no doubt whatsoever that George Best would have been overwhelmingly voted for as number one by most had they seen him play. He was a genius.

Oh absolutely. I wanted to put him in but it seemed unfair to do so. A bit like I want to put Dougan in the centre forwards because everyone knows (I think) that he is probably my favourite Wolves player but he retired when I was two so I must resist doing so when that bit comes up for voting.

Why? You're allowed to vote for players outside of your memory. I've never seen George best play live but I've seen enough and read enough to know he was something special

You could put Best in any position in attack, he was equally brilliant in any position.

Was able to include Best as did see him play live once & am old enough to have lived through his playing career - as to position he did tend to play notionally on the right more often in reality he played wherever he felt like on the day, no one was really going to stop him doing so
