The Blame Game

Right

Three preventable goals
1 Bennet and Saiss if Bennett wasn't on a yellow he would have committed a foul.
2. Take your pick from 3 unlucky Coady
3 take your pick from 3

1. Saiss for poor tracking and a wet challenge going to ground and getting nowhere near. Bennett has a tough bounce to deal with and gets wrong-footed. Not exactly criminal though.

2. Donk. He did it a few times where he tracked after his man down that side of the pitch but seemed to run in treacle and get overtaken too easily.

3. Saiss/Donk/Doherty clusterfuck. One of them should really be winning it. Especially Saiss or Donk. I can't remember who gave the FK away.

First goal Bennett

Second goal the entire defence for expecting a whistle that didn't come

Third - Patricio should be off his line and claiming that ball. Jonny gave the FK away

From what I saw live
First Bennett
Second Jonny - weak
Third MGW for turning his back/leg dangling - he had a shocking cameo. Patricio the ball came a long way, should be taking it.

Jonny was pulled back by his collar to be fair, but the defence shouldn't switch off and expect a whistle in their favour.

Donk for me for the third goal - Morgan was all over him, but he was weak and fell over hoping for a free kick. He was awesome Most of the game, but that was poor.

Patricio should do better on the first too. Leaves far too much for Gray to aim at across goal, gets his hand to it as well.

First is Bennet - park stuff, nothing is really blatant after that, keeper maybe could have done better on the angle but it’s a good finish, Saiss maybe could have stayed on his feet.

Second is weak but just a little bit unfortunate. 1) it’s probably a foul, 2) balls going miles off target.

3rd is pretty much undefendable, shouldn’t have given it away In the first place resulting in a free kick. It’s a great ball. Not really sure what you’re expecting Donck to do there, he’s pinned by Morgan so doesn’t have a chance, the players behind can’t get round and not sure it’s there for the keeper to get. Just a good set piece

He’s a big strong guy - don’t get pinned? Hold off Morgan with your body strength? It’s not impossible, else Morgan would have 30 goals this season.

Think they were in trouble from the start on the set piece. Two Leicester players got between Doherty and Dendoncker, Morgan and one other, if it drops between the two then you're up shit street. One of those where zonal marking just looks pointless, you go man to man and someone would be close enough to put a better challenge on Morgan. Although it's just as often you see people go man to man and get blocked making that look equally useless as well, like when Maguire got a free header first half but was pulled for a foul on Patricio.

You are retreating backwards, you can’t do much going backwards when someone is behind you. He’s always struggling and is even struggling to stay on his feet.

Morgan doesn’t have 30 goals because the delivery is rarely that perfect

That’s just stupid - you seriously think some indirect free kicks are impossible to defend?
Yes, there's a hell of a lot of good fortune involved in those situations coming to pass but from time to time someone puts a ball in the perfect spot for one of the attackers to get there ahead of the defender they're up against. Same thing happens all over the pitch, sometimes things just happen that you can't really do anything about.

That goal today is maybe prevented if Dendoncker started off a couple yards closer Morgan before the ball is played in, in that sense it's preventable. However, on another day he might do that and then someone makes a run the other side into the space he's vacated and then the ball drops short for them to get on the end of comfortably ahead of the defender.

A lot of the time set pieces just turn into a clusterfuck, you've just got to do your best to cover your man or space and hope to get a bit of good fortune with the flight of the ball.

Fair enough.

Goal 3 - no blame, indirect free kicks are undefendable, we may as well have just set up for the kick off before it was taken...

Well I'll look beyond your flippant dismissal of my opinion and take your lack of reasoned argument as admission of defeat.

Tbf Bazza's fk against Bristol last season was pretty undefendable. Today's wasn't.
