I wondered if Coady should have done better- was bang in front of Gomes and didn’t get a block in. Was a great strike though.

Fairly simple one today, Boly is way too tight to Tosun and allows him to half turn, play the ball into Gomes and take him totally out of the game. Neves couldn't stop him from there and it's a piledriver of a shot that Rui had no chance with.

Pretty much the only thing Willy got wrong all day and he had a couple of trademark heroic blocks near the end, so I'll forgive him.

I mostly agree, but I thought Neves could have been stronger and put in more of a challenge. The risk was giving away a penalty if he had, I'm guessing, but I did think he went past Neves a bit easily. Maybe I'm being harsh.

Gomes is past him before he even gets in a position to make a challenge, and it's the wrong area to be making a tackle too (especially given who Everton had on the pitch to take free kicks).

For me, Coady could have done a bit more in closing the angle, but we are talking fine margins here.

You are coached to show the attacker on to the outside, narrowing the angle and Coady does that, but just not enough.

Boly just ball watches, loses the line and allows Hayden to just wander into the space he's left. Not uncommon for him to suffer those sort of mistakes to be fair, quite often gets drawn to the ball and leaves space in behind and at this level it's going to get punished if you do it often enough.

Patricio just seems to guess and go early on the ball being drilled across goal, as soon as it's high he's in trouble and with it being near post too he just ends up looking like Sergio Rico.

Agreed. But as with previous goals on here, Rui doesn't boot it out of play it never happens in the first place.

Yeah I would say that’s the one weakness in Boly’s defending.

Thing is, Rui guesses and it’s still straight at him. He gets his hands at it so should never parry it into the goal. I’m sure he doesn’t need me to tell him that!

Yeah, the Boly thing is positioning for me, he's a full two yards higher than Coady. But he's obviously getting away with it until Ruí pulls a Tim Howard and commits two seconds too early.
